I just bought a Rubber 10 inch M1 Garand bayonet from a guy who builds and sells them on Ebay. He also sells M-7 and M-9 style Vietnam era bayonets, WW1 pineapple teardrop style grenades and some real cool rubber brass knuckle trench knives for reenactors. The bayonet was 32.00 plus shipping which rivals the cost of a real one. I was skeptical but had a 10 inch WW2 sheath without a knife. (lost at Carentan battle) and wanted to get a replacement and check them out.
It arrived almost instantly and I must say I was impressed. It was solid black so I did a little detail work in the way of strategically applied silver and a bit of faux aging. The result I think came out exceptionally nice. It slides right on my Garands and looks absolutely real. I could stab you with it and you'd be fine. I guess for those reasons alone it's worth considering. I'm going to get the brass knuckle trench knife he sells next. Perfect for an airborne impression.
I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

The fake on (rubber) is 29.95! so it's actually more expensive then the one on IMS and it doesn't include a sheath like the one on IMS. Interesting! I guess I still like the notion of it being a rubber replica although the actual functional weapon would be nice as well.
I like the idea of ordering my unit to "Fix Bayonets" during a game and actually feeling like I could without the lieklihood of injuries or accidental mishaps. Not that it would ever have an actual effect on the airsoft battlefield. (next thing you know....butt strokes to the head!) Yikes!

does the blade flop around? or is it pretty steady when on the garand? I've never seen the IMS ones, so they could be really cheaply made......I'll have to ask around before I even think about getting one from IMS.....

Flopping around was my worry and frankly my expectation. 10" is a fairly long blade. They must have some kind of inner reinforcement as it doesn't flop around at all. You can ply it and bend it with your hand somewhat but it's definitely not floppy. A very nice item in my opinion. Mounted on one of my Garand AEGs

Just check Ebay search using rubber bayonet from time to time. There are actually a surprising number of choices that come up. Modern replica bayonets are really cheap. His is the only Garand bayonet I've seen. He also does a replica of the Vietnam era M-14 bayonet that was my era's issue bayonet.

That's the guy! Note that once I got mine I painted portions of the bayonet for additional authenticity. Not at all essential but for me fun to do as I had the little silver paint pen already.
