After HBO airs its miniseries "The Pacific", what type of new airsoft guns (if any) do you guys expect to see on the market?
IMO the most immediate, obvious answer would be the M1 Garand, but quite honestly we should have seen one of those come out a long time ago. It's actually quite ridiculous to me that there isn't brand name AEG version yet. As for American weapons, I can't picture much else being made. There's already a good thompson, There's already an M1 carbine, I seriously doubt we'll be seeing a johnson automatic rifle or an M55. MAYBE a BAR, actually yeah probably a BAR.
As for IJA weapons I'd expect (again, if ANYTHING) a type-100 smg, simply because it's an SMG that could probably sell quickly. I'd be willing to take any IJA weapon I can get, but I'd be HOPING for ANY of the Arisaka rifles, the type-11 lmg, or the type-96/type-99 lmgs. In fact, if someone would just clone the KTW version of the type-96 and sell it for 1/10th the price I'd be absolutely thrilled. To my knowledge no other japanese weapons are even remotely practical to replicate. There's the Type-92, which is NOT going to happen. There's the knee mortar, which does have an airsoft incarnation somewhere but I can't find it. Marushin already makes a pretty decent Nambu... and yeah that's just about it.

The weapons I really hope they come out with are: M1 Garand, M1 Carbine (an AEG model using 6mm) and a B.A.R., if they came out with all of those I would probably buy each one.

Trench guns and Springfields weren't used on a WIDE basis. Springfields were kinda early, and some units, notably the Rangers, and maybe the 45th ID used them in 43 and early 44. Trench guns were mainly used by MP units, and Marines in the Pacific. My Dad who was in the Marines during the War said he qualified on an '03. Never fired a Garand.

At Guadalcanal the Marines were armed with the Springfield as their main battle weapon. Garands didn't get to Guadalcanal until after the Army arrived. Many units in N Africa were exclusively equipped with the Springfield and it was quite a commonplace weapon throughout the war. Like you Fusilier, my father never was trained on a Garand (rear eschelon soldier) and during the Bulge specifically sought out a Springfield since he was more familiar with it.
