kalbs - is the gearbox of the Ares proprietary? The hexagon uses a ver.7 TM or AGM style gearbox (small spur gear vs standard) ? The Ares is the only model available here but the proprietary gearbox and the price are holding me back. Still waiting for the hexagon model... It's a custom piece by ARES, looks sort of like an MP40 gearbox. I have pictures of it when I took it apart a few weeks ago so I'll try and post some tonight Doc.

As far as you can tell, are the gearsets and other internal standard? Doest it have a quick detach spring? I've heard reports that some of ARES internals are also proprietary...

ARES misse dthe boat on this and could have made it a quick detach spring easlily. I converted mine that way but it doesn't come this way because they have the spring attached to the piston.
I'm not sure if the gears are proprietary, they look standard to me but wasn't looking for that Jimmi

hey im just letting you guys know that if you wanna switch your drum mag, redwolf now offers the stick type magazine Note we are now in Chinese New Year which will last a week or so, depending on where you order from. What this means is all buisnesses shut down. Sort of like the western 'Christmas/New Year" holidays. If you make an order be patient

I'm not sure if the gears are proprietary, they look standard to me but wasn't looking for that Jimmi I have just brought an Ares PPSH and I can confirm that the spring is NOT attached to the piston on mine and it comes straight out! I'm guessing it was just a bit of a cock-up on the early ones off the line. You also didn't mention the very nice de-cocking feature when you pull the bolt all the way back which is a very useful. For ages I couldn't decide wheather to go for the Ares or the HP but in the end I went for the Ares and as Ehobby Asia were doing them for $200 plus shipping The cost advantage of the HP was no longer relevant! I am very happy with mine. It shoots hard and fast and the blow-back does make you grin! I agree that it does need a bit of a "make-under" to get it looking more authentic but thats easily done.

Mine is having nothing but problems. I used it in a game and it was fine with an obvious FPS drop and then the next game it stopped working. I even got it fixed and it didn't work. I used a 8.4v battery and .2 bbs if you're wondering.

The first problem sounds like a broken tappet, floating nozzle, stripped piston or piston head has separated from the piston. The “Not working” is not very descriptive for us to assist.
Confuses said about airsoft guns: ”If not blakey today, blakey tomollo”

Confuses said about airsoft guns: ”If not blakey today, blakey tomollo”I pull the trigger, blowback stops halfway, doesn't fire. I pull back the bolt to reset it, rinse, repeat.

1. Have you checked the AEG using a different battery? 2. Bolt has nothing to do with the gear box, it's basically cosmetic 3. Did you ever open close the gun reciever without the bolt pulled back? If so you may have damaged the tappet and/or nozzle. It's important the bolt be set in the open position when doing so. Remove the gearbox from the reciever and check these items. If damaged you will need to replace them.

I've read that you keep it pulled back to open....which would make sense....since that's how guns work...

How is this gun? I heard the accuracy sucks, but the range and rate of fire, and fps is good. How bout it?
