Umm, yeah so this really looks cool. 1 problem though; The only place that seems to have it is WWIIguns.com Nowhere else No news about it No other places that sells it Nothing. A bit of a curious situation don't you think? On the plus side though; this thing apparently IS real, meaning that Tanaka is manufacturing a scope for the Arisaka rifles. This begs 3 questions. 1. Where can I buy this scope separately? 2. Will it fit on a RealSteel Arisaka? and 3. since the scope is slightly offset to the wide will it be compatible with the standard straight-bolt model or does it only work with rifles that feature a curved bolt? www.wwiiguns.com/store/product_details.php?p=586

Just buy a tanaka type 99 rifle, and replace the straight bolt for a curved one... ps I thought that you had news that China or someone else was making a Type 99 rifle

An interesting situation indeed, may I ask why the Arisaka?
To help out, WWII optics are my passion, I have seen two scopes for the arisaka pass by on eBay last year. Keep an eye out and I will do the same if you feel strongly about this.

Ehh for a few reasons. My grandfather served in WWII on the pacific theater and picked up an Arisaka Type-99 as a souvenir. The rifle is now in my possession. Ever since I got it I've been trying to get my hands on an airsoft version of the weapon. The model I have has the straight-bolt, and if I get an airsoft version it probably will too.
Also, I was adopted from South Korea. The politics surrounding Korea and Japan aside, I'd look more convincing in an IJA impression than I would in a US Marines or German impression. I could do the Japanese-American Battalion outfit, but they didn't use Arisakas.
Also, if I get the real-steel rifle working I'd like to know if the scope would be compatible with the model I have. I don't think I'd be able to afford a real-steel scope though, the last one I saw sold at an auction for... a lot of money.

As a Polish-American, I am crazy for Polish WWII and modern weapons (too bad there are only a few of them). I'll keep an eye out for arisaka parts and optics, once I saw a scope go for 300 USD (the only problem with it were dim lenses). Looking around the common auction sites now, I already see stocks, fresh reproduction hand guards, monopods, trigger housings, and even whole straight bolt assemblies for the arisaka. If one wanted to build a custom arisaka, the parts to do so are there, very cheap too I might add.

Those are scopes for the Type 96 & 99 Light Machine Guns. Not for the Type 99 rifle.

Those are scopes for the Type 96 & 99 Light Machine Guns. Not for the Type 99 rifle. Your right, my mistake. The reticles looked identical, which I why I probably thought otherwise.
