I did a search but was unable to find more info on "Troy De Young Wound/Casualty Card System" to better explain how it works ... for a newbee.
Can anybody provide a link or additional info on it?

Here's a link to his web site wwiimedic.com/wound-cards-an-alternative-systemHere's a short explanation of the system There are 53 cards for the weekend out there. 32 of them are “up” cards, 21 are “dead” cards. Which means for every dead card there are 1.45 Alive cards. Decent odds. In WWII, for each American death there were approximately 2.6 wounded. But that number takes into account hospital admissions. When you take a hit, pull out your wound card and examine it. If you are dead: - Please do not talk or walk around while the battle is progressing, it is extremely distracting to other individuals. Instead sit or lay tight until the battle has passed by. - Once it has, you may walk to the far rear (preferably to a battalion aid station) where you may quietly talk so others are not distracted. If you are injured, there are two things indicated on the card: 1st: Alertness (conscious or unconscious). The first will allow you to call for assistance, the second will make you stay quiet until a medic or buddy comes to your aid. 2nd: Level of aid required. - Buddy Aid - Medic - Aid Station Once your card is used up for the battle, your next hit renders you dead.

Hello everyone, One month to go, it is hard to believe after five months of planning this event will be upon us. I hope and trust everyone is making their preparations I have been going up to the farm after work and on Saturdays getting things ready and everything is shaping up great. Plan on arriving Friday by 5:00 pm because we have a lot of exciting and fun things planned for that evening some examples are for the U.S. side will be a platoon inspection, a chow call, mail call, missions briefing, and then some patrols. Along with some other surprises. And of course for the Germans side your Friday evening will be busy with gun emplacements, patrols, interrogations, mess call, and of course relaxing at the French cafe. You definitely don't want to miss Friday. For you new recruits I will suggest some things that you might not think of to bring, a mess tin, a canteen cup for Saturday morning GI coffee, a small flashlight, some bug spray. For the U.S. side a GI pup tent, some sort of ground cloth, sleeping bag, an inflatable pillow from Walmart, these things make life a bit more comfortable for the GI. Feel good farm has many great amenities there will be plenty of parking, I will have a couple of extra tents set up in the modern camping area if needed, there is a private building for changing into your uniform if needed, and there is electricity on site. And plenty of bathrooms for both Germans and the U.S. side, kinda comes in handy at midnight Each participant will receive a welcome packet when you check in You may check in and register From 12:00 noon on Friday I look forward to seeing each and every one there. PS, Sunday, June 6 is a regular AirSoft day at the farm, For those of you who would like to stay over and play that day in uniform are welcome to do so at no cost A $20.00 value there is a lunch served for $5.00 extra if we have enough Allied and German players we can take on the modern airsofters.
Signed piper

Signed piper That sounds very tempting. Would be kinda cool to have modern warfare against WWII. When would you need to know and when can we find out if there would be enough participants? Might be interested if there were enough people staying

I probably would not know until that Sunday but im the field marshal and the AirSoft operations manager at the field so I would be able to make it happen very quickly. Let's keep the excitement building everyone because this is shaping up to be one of the best and largest WWII event the east has ever seen but of course I need your help to make it happen. Thanks for everyone's input and help and support. Signed mark piper 318

Re staying over. I assume we would be able to sleep on the premises like the night before or would we have to go home and come back the next day?

Are we having period, and NON period "camping"? If you're referring to the event yes, we will have period camping for both the U.S. And the Germans side Germans will actually have buildings (barracks), to stay in and the U.S. will have a great campsite. there will also be modern camping for those who require it. Now for Saturday night if you wish to say over you can camp in the same place or wherever you choose

Could someone tell me when the sign up deadline is? There's actually no deadline for signing up, pre-registration is preferred but walk ons are welcome but of course walk ons are not guaranteed things like the K rations or other amenities. Pre registered people are given these first. Thank you for your inquiry. signed piper

Once your card is used up for the battle, your next hit renders you dead. I have a few questions based on the above. When it says you are "dead". Does this mean you are out of the game for the duration of the event? So for example if on the first day at 7PM I am either shot twice or got a "dead" card, am I done battling for the event? I am trying to see if there is a difference in this context between "battle" and "event", or if a battle is just a sub-section of the entire event and one can die many times during the entire two days.

Here's how the card System Works when you're hit the first time you pull out your card and follow its direction once you're either healed by a medic or a buddy you keep the card with you and when you are hit the second time you are automatically dead; you will return to base camp where you will exchange your card for a new one and then re-enter the battle. If your card reads dead the first time you go back to base camp and exchange your card and then re-enter the battle. A more detailed explanation will be given on the card system at the time of the event. Thanks again signed piper

Is a helmet required for this event or could you wear a correct form of hat or cap?

To be clear those minimum requirements simply require. The following for a Allied impression. I had thought your specifications were a little more stringent Piper? 1. OD/Olive BDU's 2. M1 Helmet (post war, and foreign copies work fine) 3. Boots of any color, Hiking or military style.

Yeah I can bring a few loaner items as well if needed. Those requirements are bare minimums for our(Southeast group) twice a year open games were we hope to bring in modern airsofters and get them hooked. Piper may be trying to get people started. I don't want to speak for Piper I just wanted to have something cleared up for people. From the roster I don't think we are going to have an authenticity problem.

I don't mind when people make a conscious effort to conform to the uniform requirements. Like Sam said we can allways spruce them up before the game. What I don't like to see, and what we won't have are the blue jeans and T-shirt crowd thinking they can play along side people who have spent a great deal of time and effort in perfecting their impressions. Don't be that guy And if you're coming as a French resistance I expect a good effort with your impression, also I have 1/2 dozen or so French brarays for the French resistance if needed. When we are at the Allied campsite I do want it to be as authentic as we can reasonably make it after all immersion events like this are as much about experiencing the time period as it is about shooting BBs. I have been contacted by a group in Vermont who will also be bringing down some props to help with the atmosphere. Come early as there will be some items also for sale under the big tent. It won't be long now signed piper

Saturday June 5th 7:30AM- Registration (Please arrive no later than 9:00AM!) game structure and Safety briefing. 9:30AM- game begins There will be no ceasefire for lunch. 5:00 PM? Game play ends (This may be extended stay tuned)
Does this mean that you can skip Friday night and just come for the battle part of the event on Saturday? That is of course if you are there before 9:00.
