I shot an email to Ares about making anymore ww2 guns and they emailed me back stating:
Dear Paul,
Thanks for the suggestions. For your information, we will make Thomspon M1A1, M1928 within this year;
the schedule date, specification & price to be confirmed.
Best Regards, Miranda Chan

Please don't turn this into a "but we want an M1 and 98k!" mess.
On the topic: Good news! More WW2 guns are always welcome. I just hope they make the barrel attachment much stronger than on the current Thompsons, and real wood parts as standard. Steel receiver and barrel wouldn't hurt too...
It would probably cost a bit then, but pffff, if you get bang for your buck, then so be it. Kids can buy the CYMA model.
This would be the ultimate Thompson! Given they make it right.

I don't own any Ares products but it seems like they make a solid gun. If the all metal and wood ppsh is $380, then the thompson should be close to that...I would think.

Great! The more the merrier. Hopefully they will do a great job with it. Most of the efforts on a M1928 have been disappointingly inaccurate but hopefully someone will get it right at a reasonable price.

Yup that would be good, but please email them back and ask that they not copy the the cybergun model. The only reason I say that is Cyber gun was displaying ARES products at the Toy Fair.

I would not worry about inaccuracy with ARES, they one of the best external (cosmetic) makers, its just the internals that are sometimes questionable. Do not get your hopes up too much guys, I've been communicating with Ares for about a year now in their development of a blow-back M82a1. Its gone from coming, to delayed, to "license issues on the edge of being canceled". Lets hope the Thompson does not follow the same path.

Please don't turn this into a "but we want an M1 and 98k!" mess. OK, no offense but thats like asking everybody to get on that topic. We will settle it at this...A garand would be really appreciated and equally a non-shell K98. On the topic of the Thompson though...Thats kind of stupid to work back-wards I thought that the idea was to make the unnecessarily expensive one first than the cheap clone I still think CYMA will have the best one in the end

Not to discourage everyones enthusiasm but simply to add a balance of experience here. I have written nearly every airsoft manufacturer with encouragement that they build WW2 airsoft models and almost all have sent back encouraging replies on pending efforts and planned support. Some of these replys were from six years ago with no end result.
We are thankfully only now starting to see some new product that can support our hobby and that's great news but I expect sadly it will be several more years before we see an additional two or three available models.
When I first got into WW2 airsoft the only weapons commonly available was the Marui Thompson and the Tanaka Kar 98. The JAC BAR was produced but was $2500.00 and didn't work for me with it's external gas source. An Mg42 and MP44 were likewise available but extremely expensive. Marushin made a shell ejecting Kar 98 (since copied by D Boys)
We now have CYMA Thompsons at 1/3rd the cost of Marui, a viable MP40 (AGM) a Sten and a very powerful MP44 and soon will have couple maufacturers offering PPSH. In addition VFC introduced the incredibly awesome BAR (although at a premium price) This is huge movement within the last 18 months but we are far from where we need to be for WW2 airsoft to expode in popularity.
Keep the pressure on! It's going to happen.

According to a video on redwolf many months ago that was a teaser trailer for the Ares 1928 it is infact going to be electric blowback. I was rather saddened to see that the release date seemed rather uncertain according to that video.

When that ARES M1928 is released I may just have to do a Chindit or Commando load out.

Well that's good, I'm just ready to finally be able to make a M1928A1. And the WW2 group in our area doesn't start until January 2013. Until then Vietnam Ops

Either way, if and when they do finally show up, I want to get both. Then replace the sight on the M1A1 with an L sight

When did they push it back? They never had a realese date. If they release it later than early 2013, then that is the first time
