Hello,
I have an AGM MP40 which I've skirmished with weekly for about the past 3 months since I started playing Airsoft. Now I am encountering my first problem with it. Likewise, this is my first gun and also the first I've had to work with.
I experienced the problem 1 month ago during a skirmish. The gun was working fine but then I pulled the trigger and nothing happened. My first instinct was to toggle the on/off switch, I did this and it fired.
This problem has been occurring rather infrequently, maybe 2-3 times during a 6 hour game.
I took off the handle grips and carefully unscrewed the On/Off switch on the bottom of the handle. I inspected the wires connected to the switch and seen no problems. I blew off the on/off switch with some compressed air and put it back together.
It has been a month since I did that maintenance to it but I still encounter this problem. Sometimes I have to switch on the On/Off switch 2-3 times to make the gun shoot.
When I toggle the switch I also usually flip it over or move the gun to access the switch. I am not sure if shaking the gun fixes it without toggling the switch as I have not tried this. Is this gun prone to having power issues when the battery gets jostled around and messes with the cables?
Anyone have similar experiences or have an idea where to go from here?

Try and by-pass the switch and test the gun. If this works then you know the switch is having connection problems. A workable replacement can probably be found at a radio shack. Also, make sure you plug connections on the battery are good, sometimes the pin ports come loose.

Another option would be to get rid of the switch all together. Just be careful afterwards because you'd essentially be removing the safety switch as well.

Just wanted to follow up on this. I have confirmed that I have to toggle off/on the switch. It has nothing to do with shaking the gun.
For example, I am shooting the gun then let off the trigger. I then pull the trigger and nothing happens. No matter how many times I pull it the gun will not fire until I toggle off/on.
Would this be the switch, fuse or something else?

It's the switch, like we said. You can just get rid of the switch and fuse all together. That will solve your problem. Or if you really want, you can replace the switch with a new one. AGM MP40 switches are finicky and prone to rusting. I just got rid of mine.

Understood!
I will be removing the switch all together -- thanks for helping me clear this up.
