Ok so a JG BAR-10 that I am converting to a kar98 for someone is having feeding problems. I am nearly done with it and went out to test it today. So it is either shooting 2-3 BB's at a time or emptying out like 10 and then jamming the rifle. I tested four different mags and it did the same thing. Do you guys have any idea what the problem might be? Any and all ideas will be greatly appreciated as I planned to ship the rifle out on Monday.

Check your hopup unit for the BB feed regulator, it's a small U-shaped piece of plastic that has a spring on top, it fits almost directly over the mag feed area. It prevents BBs from going back into the cylinder/ receiver area. Symptoms are exactly the same as you've mentioned. For reference, this is it: www.airsoftpost.com/images/large//Hopup_JG_BAR10_lg.jpg

Hmm I opened the hop up and it was in place, so it still isn't working.

Ain't custom building fun? Incidently did you ever get your Garands fully functioning? Hopefully the hop up issies on them got resolved.

Just a blast ;D And no the Garands are still broken. I still think I could get a least one of them working but I really have no time as I am swamped making Kar98s. I don't even have time to finish my own Kar98 lol, so now I have to be the German with a partially converted BAR-10.

Airsoft guns can be incredibly stubborn and frustrating sometimes and they don't like being tweaked or rearranged. My philosophy is, change and alter as little as possible when it comes to the mechanical bits and feed systems.
For your Kar conversions you're still utilizing the original lower stock aren't you? With that nothing about the hop up should be misaligned or tweaked. When you went to cut off the larger outer barrel did you perhaps make your cut too far back?
I know you said you tried several different magazines, are they all magazines specific to that very gun? The reason I ask is that often times other brand magazines although supposedly compatible, aren't.

Yea they were all made by Jing Gong. I removed the hop up when I cut the outer barrel so I don't think that would cause a problem. I use a Dboys kar98 stock not a JG BAR-10 stock. I have opened and cleaned the hop up but have not removed anything. The only thing I did to modify the internals has been removing the safety sear which was getting in the way.

I get occasional misfeeds with my dboys/jg bar98k. I sometimes have to press on the front of the mag for it to feed properly. I think it has something to do with the cutting of the magwell and the alignment of the mag relative to the feed system. do your mags click properly into place?

Yep it clicks with the mag catch. It does happen occasionally on even my stock BAR-10 but its not a problem. With this kar98 It happens every time. It must be the hop up as I put in a different one and it worked fine.

As mentioned when you build these things it seems the best advice is to remove replace and alter as little as you can get away with to avoid problems. Have you got it working yet? Does it work if you press against the mag end below the feed? If so it's an alignment issue.
