This is a follow up installment event in our 'Last Stand at Outpost Vitirollio Pass' Italian front series.
We currently do not have an allied US side set up but pending interest I would be happy to make plausible adjustments to the scenario plan . Also any german impressions particular to the theatre will be accommodated as well, for instance Heer impressions etc etc
please contact me directly at Tom@sideshowcollectibles.com
Last stand at outpost Vitirollio : week two
Location: PRIVATE Field Invite only email for details

Time: 0900 start - 1500 (Gate opens at 0800 - DO NOT SHOW UP AT 0900, THAT IS WHEN THE SCENARIO STARTS)
BIO bb’s are mandatory on this field and you are responsible as an individual to bring your own, there may or may not be some available at the field but PLEAEE do not count on that. The scenario hosts would rather focus on game props and gameplay than simple resource mechanics. We thank you in advance
If this is your first time to this field or you have any doubt as to the REQUIRED way into the field please ask in the thread and directions will be provided. DO NOT use the easy road into the locale as it will quickly close down the game[b/]
macro notes [b/]
For the purposes of this skirmish event, the authenticity standards will be at the BASIC level , all are encouraged to research their roll through the numerous resources posted on THE REGIMENT forum for the unit you wish to participate with. We are looking to help support the effort on everyones part to slowly tune up their impression with every event
A simple Italian partisan option will be available that just about anyone should be able to field for minimal cost, with more intensive options presented to make it a full blown reenactor level impression. As long as you make an effort to substantiate a WWII impression you will not be turned away (show up in modern gear and or with little or no thought for the period though and you're a no go). For those with real impressions, tropicals for the Italian front are the principal uniform but any continental uniform will be accepted as well.
The only thing NOT acceptable will be Eastern front or Pacific theatre impressions as those simply are not listed in the order of battle for this particular scenario.
For weapon restrictions, please see below.
Scenario:
Northern Italy, 1945 - events based on excerpts from this CIA article:
The OSS and Italian Partisans in World War II
Summary:
Desperate fighting in the passes of northern Italy's mountainous regions after the collapse of the German Gothic Line left many pockets of ad hoc German units to defend vital access to German rear lines and the PO valley area. One such pass was the Vitirolio Road access that had a small farmstead nestled in a vital roadway intersection. Formally a hidden HQ for the 22nd Garibaldi Brigade partisan unit, the farmhouse and its attendant buildings have, after fierce fighting, become the staging ground for a small German kampfgruppe of mixed composition. Lead elements of the kampfgruppe from the 35th SS Panzer-grenadier rgt and 10th FJ rgt have established a firm foothold on the local area but have been stymied in any further gains by both the vicious and on going assaults form the GB partisans as well as reconnaissance elements and occasional shelling from the US allied lines staged a few km’s away.
Currently a mortar platoon from the 10th Fj has been brought up to bolster the Kampfgruppe’s position and to help break up the partisan assaults that occur almost daily. Relief in the form of any further reinforcements has been held up by resource needs elsewhere in the local sector as well as by the harassment by air of allied P-51’s. A week earlier a troop convoy of fresh troops was annihilated on the mountain pass roads leading to the Vitriollio pass encampment. There has been little word of further efforts to divert manpower to the area and limited supplies arrive at night.
Reinforcements are clearly not forthcoming which lead all to believe that Outpost Vitirolio was on its own for the time being.
Gameplay:
German forces will be defending key strategic positions on the field as well as the farm house. Hilltop mortar and Mg positions offer a commanding view of the fields surrounding the farmhouse , but being short on men and supplies the Local GB partisan units are looking to exploit the tenuous German position as well as taking fairly high risk opportunities to extract vengeance wherever and whenever they can upon the soldaten of kampfgruppe Steiner. German forces in the area are well seasoned combat troops familiar with the rigors of
and strain of battle and as such are in good spirits and very willing to stubbornly maintain the positions they have fought hard to obtain. However the day is decided in the Vitirolio Pass, it will not be for a lack of will to fight. No quarter is expected here nor will any likely be given.
German Forces
Please wear tropical mixed uniform if possible, however any German continental impression will be acceptable.
Any German WWII era airsoft weapon such as the MP 44, StG 44, Kar98, MG 34 or MG 42 is good to go.
Acceptable non-WWII era weapons for German players:
AK-47's (sub for StG 44/MP 43/MP 44), any bolt action rifle* (sub for K98) and M-14 (sub for G43). Please burlap wrap your non-WWII era weapons to give them a more acceptable profile. MG's will be simulated using 249's, 240's or RPK's to at least match the firepower of the MG 34 and/or MG 42.

16th SS Panzergrenadier Division Reichsführer: Panzergrenadier Regiment 36:

Other German units - Wehrmacht infantry, dismounted armored personnel, etc:
[Garibaldi Brigades partisans:
Acceptable non-WWII era weapons:
There are a lot of cheap German period weapons available and can be used by Partisan units as well, such as the AGM MP40 and AGM MP44.
British Sten guns.
Burlap wrapped AK-47's (sub for StG 44/MP 43/MP 44).
Please NO support weapons for the partisans for game control purposes.
Uniforming basics:
The GB partisans were by late 44 early 45 a very well trained and equipped/uniformed fighting force. A host of captured German articles and weapons filled their stores as well as allied airdrops. So feel free to mix your civilian garb in with US or British military gear. A wealth of impression images is offered here to help tailor yoru impression to the right quasi paramilitary look. Also remember the GB partisans were communist and as such wore red triangular scarves [seen in the impression images] and numerous red star emblems.
Baggy earth colored trousers, NO JEANS - think chino's, and lace-up simple boots. Thicker wool socks are commonly seen pulled up over trouser legs. British trousers in wool or denim seem to be prevalent as well as german/ Italian military trousers.
Loose fitting collared or uncollared long sleeve shirts, vests, and suit jackets make excellent tops. Try to avoid polyester looking garments that are real shiny
Gear:
Any captured German web gear, British web gear, or simple haversacks and leather belts.
Headwear:
Any form of driver style cap, fedora [ full brim we need to cut back on the more 60’s mod style fedora], beret or traditional Italian headgear (if the Robin Hood look suits you, FOR REAL feather and all).
