Swapping bolts on the Dboys Kar 98

Hey gents.

Currently have a Dboys Kar 98 I picked up for a future project.
Right now it has the Gas bolt in it, but it came with the Spring bolt as well.

The person I bought it off of told me they could not even remove the gas bolt so had no luck at all installing the spring bolt.

Well I got the gas bolt out no problem, and can ALMOST get the spring bolt on.
It will go till it is almost on (aprox 1 inch remaining till it is fully on and in)
then just 'locks up'. Refuses to budge any more on.

I hear there is some minor modding possibly required to get it on?
Maybe I am doing something wrong not sure.

I'd love to be able to plink with this sucker

Any insight/help is appreciated.

You might have to drop the trigger sear, or maybe even the assembly, to let it pass forward to 'home.' It's a common issue when reinstalling cylinders in any spring rifle.

Yeah I can get it pass the trigger sear (I believe). But right after that spot, the last few MM's to go it stops.

I handled one last summer, and that last few MM's was a good push to get it into battery.. But this one is just nuts!
