Hi! This was inspired by Gryphon's Mosin conversion. Like his, this uses no mosin parts whatsoever and there is no need cut out a magwell because it utilizes the bar10 stock itself. Unlike his, i decided to use Sintra instead of wood. Here is the disassembled Bar10 I cut the stock with a saw to the basic MN shape, filled the recesses with putty, sanded and shaped. I made the magazine out of laminated 3mm Sintra board. Screwed it in place from inside the stock. Blended it with the trigger guard with putty. I dremelled the recesses in the the stock and sculpted the support lugs. For the handguard, the top is basically the Bar10 outer barrel, painted to look like wood, with some swells sculpted in to further the effect. The bottom is laminated Sintra, epoxied and superglued in place. I used sheet aluminium for the barrel bands. I used a modified MP5 front sight and an AK rear sight. The outer barrel extension is also from an AK. Here it is basically finished... It's not a masterpiece like Gryphon's...but my dog seems to like it...

I started out by sanding the whole Bar10 stock. You have to sand it very well to make sure all the rubber coating is gone. Partially sanded coating makes for a very bad base for paint as i discovered the hard way. After sanding, i sprayed a layer of grey primer, then a base of yellow. Over the yellow base, i sprayed lines and patches of maroon. Then i went over the whole gun with spray on wood stain. After this, i brushed on brown ink to simulate grain lines. to finish, i sprayed the whole gun with a layer of clear coat.

My Mosin Nagant sniper with PU scope is done! The scope is a 4x22 colt carry handle scope replica, which looks almost exactly like the russian PU scope. I had a side mount fabricated out of 2mm sheet steel, a 5mm spacer bar, and mounted the cut up RIS from the bar10. Unfortunately, i couldn't find 35mm scope rings anywhere locally so i just forced fit 30mm rings. Here it is with it's arch enemy...Enemy at the gates duel anyone?

Hey pretty nice job on that man. The wood finished turned out pretty nice. Could I see more pictures of the Kar98 ;D? Is it also custom made by you?

Thanks! Yup, i built the bar98k as well. Just followed bits and pieces from the tutorials of everyone who's made em. Thanks for the help with the bolt handle! But i discovered an even better way to attach the bolt assembly: have the cylinder attachment treaded. This way, the bolt assembly screws into the cylinder attachment itself. BTT: I really wish i could import a real mosin stock but restrictions are so..strict. I had to haggle to the death just to get the PU scope lookalike to clear customs.

Yea that would work too. Actually it would be much more smooth but more complicated. Nice looking gun though. Is it wood or plastic?

So i have this old Swiss arms m9 rifle that the stock broke off right at the the handle, so i crafted a Mosin looking stock to replace it. What do you think would be the best putty that would grip both wood and plastic very well? I can post pics of the situation if u want...

dan2 - you can pm me the pics of the problem. I'm thinking you'll have to reinforce the join with screws then use epoxy putty. whiplash169-thanks!

Great approach and a wonderful final outcome. Thanks for inspiring others. (including me) The notion of using the BAR 10 stock and tweaking it a bit saves a ton of work and insures that the mag feed area is going to function flawlessly. Obviously the end result can be made to look quite good.
My goal now is to do a Kar 98, Springfield, Mosin and SMLE
