ok i cut it and the cuts are a little off but it came out alrite. What do i use to glue it together? How do i cover up the cut? Also do i cut the spring to make it fit the new 20 round size? If i get it to work i think the magazine will acutally fit 20 airsoft rounds cuz it holds barely 50 as it is. It was way easier than i expected ill put up a picture when im finished.

I used CA glue (basicly jellied super glue). You can get it at a hobby store or I did cut a little bit off the spring to make it fit again. I actually found that the finished magazine did not fit a whole lot less then it did before I shorted it. I used lightwieght wood filler, however I also found that a little epoxy and then dremel it smooth worked well to hid the cut. Then I just painted them flat black. You can still see the area where the cut was made, but you can barley notice it when it's done.

On the KA mags, how did you remove the spring before you cut it? Did you just split it in half?

On the KA mags, how did you remove the spring before you cut it? Did you just split it in half? There is a pin at the top front of the mag that you have to remove to be able to remove the plate that holds the spring in the KA Thompson mags. they are easy to convert to the 20 rnd length.

I recently bought a converted 30 round sized midcap (110 rounds) in to a 20 round midcap (around 75 rounds) from Browning and using it as a template made five more. They work great and in my opinion are a big improvement in the gun. They are a fairly easy do itself project but require too much build time to do commercially. He also share how to shorten the springer carbine M2 mags into M1 carbine box rounds and I copied his approach and made a bunch of them as well. this post is in the cheapo carbine springer thread.
