Taking a quick look there were no marines fighting in Europe except for some very small missions and the OSS. I'd suggest you go with a regular infantry division. Marines are hard as no one wants to be the Japanese.

If you go marine you will have no one to fight, literally! a normal infantry or even paratrooper can fight much more than marines?

Whiplash...son...you need to step into the G-2 tent and draw several deep breaths before posting. Otherwise when you post, most in this community will choose to simply ignore your contributions. (which in my opinion, thus far have been detractions)
Its possible with the HBO series on the Pacific, there might be more and more events from that theater but depicting a Marine impression for the European theater is fairly preposterous. Marines fought in Europe in WW1 but had virtually no presence in Europe during WW2. They had their hands tied, island hopping on the other side of the globe.
Welcome to the community young man but try breathing through your nostrils.

To go back to the original question, did the Russians use BARs, the answer is yes, but not the US version, it was the Polish version which was captured and used by both the Germans and the Russians, however to do a convincing Polish BAR you'd have to add a pistol grip and a finned barrel. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browning_wz.1928

Actually that would be an interesting conversion to do Pete (but only on a China made BAR airsoft gun... The VFC would be a bit expensive to screw up)

That RKM wz. 1928 looks awesome, kind of like the M5A1 on resistance fall of man.

I don't think they would be issued one. A B.A.R gunner was an important position in the squad and a Sergeant is already busy enough with his job as the squad leader. I would think that most NCO's would carry M3A1's (or maybe Thompsons, although they were in short supply for much of the war). However, nothing can be discounted as impossible. I guess if a squad's support gunner was killed or wounded, there's a possibility that a corporal or a sergeant could pick it up (frankly, I'd rather have a B.A.R. than a Thompson given the RS Thompson's inaccuracy).

The Thompson can be accurate on the hands of a train user , but it was not meant to be a marksman's weapon , when Thompson developed the Thompson SMG , he meant it to be used as a Trench Broom , to spray rounds into enemy trenches and sweep the enemy from them.
