Umm... maybe a German guy plucked it off of a dead American, he got transferred to the Eastern Front, then he died and a Russian plucked it off of him?... In a more likely scenario the BAR may have been supplied to the Soviet Forces through Lend and Lease. I don't know if the BAR was actually exchanged in this way though: I know that spam, Bazookas, and Sherman tanks were.

I meant dead American bodies if they ever did a joint ops mission. And ok. Do you guys know of any DP-28 airsoft guns?

No one sells a DP-28 Airsoft gun, altough Gyrphon made a custom one from an M14. I am also pretty sure there were no joint ops missions between russians and the US.

i would have to agree. if you are doing a russian impression, than i would stick to weapons more frequently used by the russians (mosin, ppsh, or an mp40 if you really want)

I can't make guns and I was thinking about a PPsh-41. I'm supposed to be an officer (I have a russian team of around 5), and was going to be in our Base of Fire team, so I wanted to be a support gunner

First off with only 5 guys at the most be a sergeant. Also NCO and Officers couldn't also be support gunners or snipers or anything special like that. I am not 100% on that though. You should try doing a custom gun though or if you have a friend good with word working or stuff like that get him to try to help you. Every team needs a custom gun guy, he's more important then the sergeant himself ;D

I don't think they would be issued one. A B.A.R gunner was an important position in the squad and a Sergeant is already busy enough with his job as the squad leader.

Hmm. Ok, that makes sense, its just that I want to use a BAR, and my team probably won't be able to decide what country they want to be until they get guns

Do a country that has guns available or that are easiest to make. If you have a passion for B.A.Rs just appoint some one else as sergeant. Know any good leader?

No. I'd be the best, because I'm the one that would organize drills and stuff. Maybe I'll promote my friend, but only after we get our guns and outfits. I'd like to be 3rd division marines, and my friend (the one I might promote) wants a tommy gun. My other friend wants a springfield, but they all want to be russian lol. The other kid wants an StG-44 and I don't think the U.S. troops used those, captured or not. Might just have to get a different pattern tommy gun

Choose a county and use the guns the country's soldiers were issued. Simpler that way lol

dont base your impressions on the weapons base them on the impression/uniform, find out what country most of your group wants to potray. then do that impression, best 2 countrys to do are the US and Germany, more guns than the other impressions and some of the uniforms are cheaper.

I'm rolling my eyes at this whole thread, I highly suggest some reading or at the least looking at pictures is in order. If you are reenacting then try research and on your own first please. We cannot give anyone a crash course in WW2 history in a single thread. You are missing out on the best part about WW2 airsoft.
If the BAR is the AEG you want then you will be an American. Not Soviet, Not German , Not British.

I was thinking the same thing kalbs , but i decided to try to help... also ill try a crash course, american weapons go with american uniforms, german weapons go with german impressions and so on and so forth... the most common and most accurate weapon for an impression is the main rifle such as the m1 garand k98k mosin nagant etc.

All countries used captured weapons to SOME extent, but usually of their enemy they were fighting. We, the USA did NOT send very many small arms to the Soviets. A few Thompsons and maybe some outdated revolvers, but thats about it. Don;t be lazy. Just because you like a certain weapon, don't think its ok to use with any impression you feel like. Russians used Russian weapons,Germans used German, for the most part.

Weapons is a problem in the WWII airsoft community though. There is not a good variety of weapons to suit the players. Yes their are customs but they only provide a small amount.

ok. First of all, I understand my lack of knowledge upsets you guys, but isn't that why they made this forum; to spread knowledge about WWII,and WWII airsoft? So before you go saying stuff, just keep in mind that it was a simple question, and I figured you guys would answer it- in a less degrading way. Thanks anyway. I got my answer, and thats all that matters. We're going to go American now anyway lol

It's not that people shouldn't ask questions. However people should be willing to put a little more work on their own into this hobby. Just a little bit of looking at book and even google as mentioned and you could have answered your own question with little to no trouble. I hope you can understand if we poke a little fun in your direction. Relax and enjoy your stay.
