any ideas? i wanna take a dark imitation wood stock and lighten the look of the wood. i know how to make it darker but how do you make it lighter?

Your only option is to strip the wood grain completely and re-paint it. I know of no way to lighten fake wood grain.

If the imitation wood is plastic you have no choice but to repaint the whole thing in a lighter shade.
