I think Empire is better IMO, it has more options and creates a more evolving game, Napoleon is set in a specific time and in Napoleon it almost seems like all the armies are generic. Naval battles are so much better in NTW though  |

Its great graphics, I just couldnt get into it , (too obsessed with ww2 online)
I noticed I suck at naval combat, while Im pretty much undefeated on land.
Im going to give it another shot tho, since it is still on my HD.

Haven't tried Napoleon yet, will probably download it soon. Shogun 2 is in the works though, which is pretty awesome.

Yeah in all the land battles Ive done very good in most cases I Lose slightly or win like my whole army is still there and his is running away getting eaten by my Cav but in naval battles i cant Even win the ones in campain im so terrible at them it is actually sad when i play at sea.  It is still a great game though Im trying to take out austria at the moment in campain it is very hard |

You don't miss much, very bad game, especaly for you that I know like the details, just like me.
Lets see the big faults so far.
ALL units are based on 1813, so the russians have 1812 uniforms, prussiasn have landwehr ect. British have Belgic shako, the french grenadiers have Bardin uniforms, while the french line infantry have 1809 uniforms with Bardin style shakos.
And all this when the game starts in 1805.
The austrians don't even have hemets but shakos.
Then you got the whole thing with Borodino having 2600 troops in total, instead of the almost 300 000 it should have, seriously it just looks sad having a napoleoinc computer game with only 1500 man armies.
I've downloaded a mod that makes the game almost playable, but it's still a silly game.
Right now I'm enjoying a mod called The "Hawks European Warfare; Napoleonica for a old game called american conquest, diffrent type game, but damn fun, I love the classic style graphcis and effects.

Anyway I don't think Napoleon TW captures the period at all, the mod makes it better, atleast the campagin part, but the battles have little to do with Napoleoinc warfare.
You still have silly stuff like light infantry putting stakes in the ground to kill cav. all units are the same in states, all line infantry is the same, all light infantry all grenadiers ect.
It's still a better game then empire, but a bleak wargame, nothing about it gives the napoleoinc flare or taste.
No histwar is my gave for realistic wargaming, and Hawks Napoleoinca is just great fun, lovley battles that might not be 100% accrurat simulator like hiswar, but damn fun and it caputres the napoeleoinc feel

Nope you can only get it from there, I find the download very fast. but then I'm in europe, might be slower for you yanks.
But there are sevral americans that have downloaded it.
The demo is quite old, and dosn't show the game for what it realy is.
I just played Eylau but in the summer not winter. it was a bloody battle, 35 000 casualties total. I won by keeping my 10 000 cav in reserve, I needed it sevral times, but I kept it in reserve, I payed for it with lots of losses, but finnaly the enemy line was weakend in the center and I charged all 10 000 of them, the enemy infantry was weakend from 5 hours of fighting and the enemy cav was spent becasue they had used the battle to harraz my infantry, so I had no oposision, they swept though, loosing almost no troopers, sending the whole russian/prussian army to the hills.

For some reason there is very little AWI in the original game, there is alot of French and indian war stuff, some 1812 stuff, but mostly spanish invasion of america stuff.
The CW is ok, but not that great, luckeluy there is a second mod for the CW version of the game that fixes most of the problems
