I didn't notice until the last two pictures, the ship is out of the water... I guess to help with maintenence costs. A nicely restored ship.

It's actually in a cradle. The river tide moves up and down a lot, and during low tide, the ship sit in the cradle, high tide it's floating.

I have yet to go out and see the ship, but I need to. My unit commander used to volunteer at the ship with its living history corps but they kind of disbanded that.

I remember this old ship, my grandfather used to be a tourguide on it. he served in vietnam on a similar vessel. when i was 10 it was awesome to see all this stuff up close. we also loved to shoot down japs with the aa guns wish i could go back. theres a great museum there too.
