So after looking through the treads, there is little to nothing on an M1 carbine conversion. Is there some reason that this is not done more often? Just looking at the shapes, via images on line, it looks like you could fit a M14 into a decent looking M1 carbine. I am planning on getting a wood stock for an M1 and milling it out to fit the m14 components. So that said here comes my cry for help.
A) are there obstacles to the M1 carbine conversion that make it VERY difficult B)anyone have the dimensions for the cyma m14 C)anyone have the dimensions for a WWII M1 carbine
thanks guys

The M14 gearbox will not fit an M1 carbine stock. You can still make a custom stock but dimensions will be much larger than the real one. That's why not many attempt it. Because if you can't get it to look real, what's the point? If you want, you can try using an AEP gearbox but that will lack the power to be skirmishable. IMHO think the best way to go about it is to build it classic airsoft style gas NBB with an external tank rig.

Sadly the carbine is just way way smaller than one expects until you start sizing what available with regard to AEG gearboxes. Like so many I was sure the M14 set up would work fine...Not. The I assumed the MP 40 gear box would work. Finally I considered AEPs and even then no dice without creating some infidelities to the shape, size and appearance of the magazine etc. I split a carbine stock down the middle from top to bottom and tried getting something to work. A ton of effort and money later I have nothing viable to show for my labors. Pitty as I'd love a carbine AEG
If you're thinking gas just find an old 6mm Marushin carbine. They were excellent. You had to cock them each time but they shot hard, accurately and reliably. I wish I had hung onto mine. The current M2 8mm is post WW2 and while designed as a gas blow back it's too persnickety to skirmish with. There was an interum 8mm, non blow back, that you had to cock but it was less reliable than the original 6mm.
