Here is an interesting approach to making a custom Kar98. www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4To1kWqD4ASeems he managed to utilize the Dboys Kar98 front sight assembly without having to cut it out. Probably more work then its worth though and there's still the down side that you can see an open spot in the rifle when you cock the bolt. Interesting none the less.

Yea, you could probably use something to cover it up. Not exactly sure how he got the hop up to adjust with an allen wrench though.

Looks like that the part behind the rear sight could be fixed easily with a small metal insert over the top shaped to fit right and painted. Everything else looks good though so I say kudos!

definatly. looks amazing too. i own a dboys that i "overhauled" real nicely and i want to make the thing a real airsoft gun. real wood too which is cool. but its not going to be my next project, however i think china did give us a good gun to work off of. id also like to see someone utilize the receiver too. that would be extra special, if its possible

I think it would be possible to use most of the receiver, it would be a ton of work though. Not worth it in my opinion. I am going to try using the front sight part like this guy did though.

maybey you could bend some sheet steel on a pipe and make a sort of clip that clips over the part that the bolt exposes if your doing it like this guy. hope the front site part turns out!
