very nice find there!.
the magazine seems to be a copy of the tanaka with a co2 cartridge slapped in. Hopefully they find a way to prevent them from shooting too hot.
the rest of the gun seems very well made, and the receiver stamps are a nice touch.

well, that price isn't "affordable", I was hoping for a price of around $200-$250. Guess that I'm going to have to either forget about the gun or find a way to get more spare cash...

I never expected it to be affordable. G&G other sniper gas rifle costs $400. Better price then the tanaka. It looks like a very promising rifle especially if the magazines are a good price. werekiss, You should try making a custom rifle, you can pull it off for like $175. If your budget is $250 you could throw in some nice upgrades too.

Why do most of the WWII airsoft guns have to cost so much?

Also the companies that make them are usually just higher end companies. It doesn't have much to do with them being WW2. G&Gs other gas rifle is also priced at $400 or so. The Tanaka Kar98 for instance isn't anymore expensive then their other modern rifles. Same goes with any other WW2 gun I can think of.

Well I guess with this K98 it will be worth every penny, hope so at least.

They cost that much because....Dudes...They cost that much. Any of you who have never been in business or have never done any development, design work or worked, have little or no clue about how costs have to be funneled into sales prices.
The fact is, the market for WW2 type weapons is so limited in volume that all the development costs (and they are considerable) have to amortized over a smaller production set. This results in either (A) A much higher selling price than a similar high volume gun or (B) The model never being produced because the companies fear they can't sell it for enough to cover the cost of producing it. By the way (B) and all you snivelling whinners posting your unwillingness (or inability) to pay a reasonable price for a low volume gun is the primary reason we have so few choices. OKay....I will take a few deep breaths and get off my soap box. You clueless mouthbreathers need to step into the G-2 tent and take a few deep breaths yourselves. You're killing us.
I can't tell how sick I am of these types of posts and how damaging they are to the hope we'll get more WW2 offerings. Companies looking at such comments conclude..."Well I guess we'll not build the...as the demand won't support the price we would have to charge."
If it's a fresh design and not something copied from others the development cost is in the 10s of thousands of dollars. You have to get repaid for those costs somewhere. If you expect to sell thousands of rifles it's perhaps $4 or 5 dollars per rifle. If you fear your sales may be in the hundreds it has to be $50.00 to $100.00 per rifle sold.
If the products we're talking about get built the number of sales at $400.00 won't be substantially lower than if the same rifle was priced at 250.00 and perhaps the company will make money on it and want to create more unique offerings.
It probably means instead of having three or four WW2 weapons in your armory you may have to ultimately settle for one or two. I personally would like to have a greater choice on what those might be.

it looks almost exactly the same as the tanaka one, down to the markings and everything. i still shout springers, forget gas rifles.

Gas rifles have their place in airsoft. They're starting to get more and more consistent, and will one day be able to run CO2 well enough to be considered skirmishing weapons.
Knowing G&G, I'm betting the tolerances will be pretty good. This is good for two reasons- consistency in GBBs depends on tolerance issues, and the bolt might actually feel decently nice to work.
If you're looking for skirmish capable realism in bolt actions, the gas in mag/non shell ejecting system is the best.

Looks nice but holy crap! 560 FPS, that is quite high for an out of the box rifle.

Hmm, maybe in addition to spare magazines, they'll also sell just the part that holds the bbs. That way it'd be sort of a stripper clip feature.

Yes! I just have to use .25's or .28's to get it down below 450? Is the limit for gza?

Yes! I just have to use .25's or .28's to get it down below 450? Is the limit for gza? You'd need something like .35s because I think gza's limit is 450 for bolt action rifles.
