Years ago Tanaka made a Hi Power but it was not especially reliable or skirmishable. Still it was an iconic weapon from the war and I have long awaited someone else offering it. WE has announced it and I see that it is now available at airsoft global so I ordered one www.airsoftglobal.com/product_info.php?products_id=13317&osCsid=u6lk66se4htssfd6ngvlrq25r1The price was surprisingly good for an all metal GBB from WE. $87.00. Delivered it will be $112.00 and I will provide a report once it arrives and I've had a chance to fool with it.

Nice, the hi power is one of my favorite guns. I'd love to buy a real one someday... but damn... over $1000 all day long.
I might have to pick up a we hipower. I look forward to a review of yours.

Back in 1971 I almost bought a Hi-Power. $125, with target sights. Of course, as a 2LT I was making a whopping $450 a month.

The Germans type classified the Browning Hi Power and though somewhat rare was an issued weapon in the German Army as well as the US. I think they took over the plant in Belgium
Lots of different countries liscensed the pistol and there were lots of assorted variations on it. This WE appears right for WW2 although it does not have trades.

Very nice looking gun, it'll be a nice change from the lugers and 1911's in the games i see. What worries me is the price, the whole thing may be potmetal. But regardless, any non 1911 release is good i suppose.

Yep, the Germans took over the FN factory and started making them for themselves. My girlfriend's brother in law has a hipower with the eagle and swastika stamped on it. His grandfather took it off a German while serving with the 82nd in Italy.
Browning had sold his 1911 design to Colt, so when asked to make design a gun for French military he had to design a totally new gun. After some of the patants ran out, he used a lot of the 1911's design to make the hipower. Oddly enough, France did not adpot the pistol but Belgium did in 1935. Once Germany captured Belgium, they restarted production of the hipower for there use.

I received the pistol today. It looks great. Sadly it is an exact clone of the Tanaka. It was a wall hanger and so is this one. Leaks like a submarine with screen doors. I am once again reminded why I hate gas guns.

That sucks 2nd Bat , but on the bright side that particular Hi Power with the Tangent sight wasn't around during WWII.

Would you mind posting a review, 2ndbat? I've been torn between getting this or the excellent but expensive KSC CZ75 to stand in for a Browning Hi Power.

Man when I saw this thread I got really excited that a good hi-power was coming out. Too bad I would have bought it.

I'm afraid since I haven't been able to get it to hold gas and actually work my review at this point wouldn't be very favorable. Nice looking and feeling pistol however. Hopefully I just got a bad one.

I got mine a few days ago and so far I'm pretty happy with it, very happy really. It's a beautiful piece of kit and seems to be well made. The biggest oddity so far is the heavy trigger pull as a result of the mag safety. My biggest problem with it so far is that it does not appear to have an adjustable hop up (as it was advertised to have) and does indeed appear to be a Tanaka clone although the mag gas feed looks a bit different (I don't own a Tanaka).
The mag is tight, doesn't rattle or leak and is a bit of a tank, metal follower and everything. The power seems reasonable at 250 - 279 fps with bio .25s (that's all I had lying around). I get a mag and a half with one gas load, the blowback is crisp and the slide locks back every time. The accuracy at the admittedly short distance of about 35ft is about a three inch spread which, with my poor aim while standing and wobbling about the place, isn't half bad. I've not used it in anger yet and only put a few mags through it so time will tell.
Fingers crossed!
