Okay guys so I have decided to make and FG-42 AEG and when drawing out some rough plans reposed Id be needing a SAW m249 gearbox so if anyone could sell me or tell me where to get one I'd really appreciate it. I'll also keep you guys updated on the FG-42 progress

Do take note that the FG42 is really thin and the M249 gearbox is too wide and too big to use for an accurate FG42. Schmitty has a build somewhere on this board. I think he used a modified ver 3 or ver 7 gearbox with a long air seal nozzle.

This gun is deceptively small. The mp40 gearbox would be too high, so would the m14 is placed in front. The gearbox should be in the rear, maybe in the stock, like schimitty's. I was considering using a version 6 gearbox, with the motor at the grip, but the motor cage of the thompson is in the wrong angle. Also, the magazine inserts to the rear of the trigger group, adding to the complications. I think the best bet would be to use an M14 gearbox, with the angled motor cage contained in the stock, a long nozzle with a custom hop chamber. If i had a cnc machine at my disposal i'd give this a go.
