Hello folks!
I came across this site in the ATF vendor links, and saw a few things i wouldn't mind ordering from them, mostly small items.
However, in my search, i found little to no info on how reliable these guys are. The BBB was a miss, and googling and binging EMC militaria gave me little to no useful results.
So to put it frankly, are these guys trustworthy?

Have you tried "What Price Glory"? They have many items to supplement ATF shortages.

WPG was my 2nd choice, but i want to order the NATO m1 helmet from EMC, and a few other things as well.
I found a nice guide on how to refinish helmets, and plan on renovating the m1 helmet to make it look more like a WWII helmet.

I purchased an M1 helmet shell from ATF last year for around $50. Might look into it, as it might be cheaper after you buy a helmet, cork, paint, and chin strap. Just food for thought.

From what I've seen over the WW2 Reenactors Forum, EMC is a reliable, legitimate business. As for the quality of their products, I cannot comment, as I have not personally ordered anything from them. I have, however, communicated via PM with the owner, Eric, and he seems to be a nice guy and was very helpful in answering a couple of questions I had. However, I would stay away from the NATO helmet. Even if refinished, something about is just not going to look right. For not much more, you can put together a helmet using WWII-era components. It will look much better, and, most importantly, be more correct. For instance, you could get this helmet shell (or somebody should, its a great price): cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220631080504&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT And throw on fresh paint. I got one from this lot and it was very nice, had good cork, etc., just needed new paint. I would also recommend getting chinstraps from him (http://cgi.ebay.com/WWII-WW2-M1-Helmet-Chinstrap-set-/220724688720?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3364377750) as they are possibly the best repros out there. I will try to find a link for a good liner at a reasonable price. Hope this helps, -Shawn

Perhaps a more useful post would be some pictures to illustrate the differences between war time and post war NATO helmets. From a distance they do look the same but you can see there is something "off" on them even from a distance. Several years ago I bought a post war helmet that was converted by ATF....I consider it a waste of money now. Wanted to add some info from this site might help with M1 helmets. www.toppots.net/main.php?do=clientsitecontent&action=home&link_id=140and this video may of be of service. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOA5veTf3YIEMC is local to the field we paly at near Athens GA seems to be a nice fella but have not yet met him.

Thanks for the links and the advice sturgill. Although i have my reservations about Ebay, ill take a look at those links and will keep an eye out for WWII helmet parts. And charley, thanks for the toppots link, ill make sure to take a good look at it.
Thanks for the responses fellas, EMC seems like a pretty legit buisness overall, but ill just rebuild a helmet instead.

I agree with you there. I should've included links/photos ollustrating the differences between the two. Thanks for cleaning up after me, my post was semi-hurried. Thanks for the links and the advice sturgill. Although i have my reservations about Ebay, ill take a look at those links and will keep an eye out for WWII helmet parts. Thanks for the responses fellas, EMC seems like a pretty legit buisness overall, but ill just rebuild a helmet instead. No problem at all. I understand having reservations about eBay, I've had bad experiences on there myself. But I have had nothing but positive experiences with the seller that has the steel pot and chinstraps. Very reliable and honest. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM. -Shawn
