while i have draped numerous 1/6th scale ones on to tiny dudes, i honestly have little knowledge of how exactly to wear one of these.
I'm sure my fellow Germans will correct us in the field, but i would rather create another senseless thread ;D
addtionaly did they still cary Gas capes later war?

The can is typically on the left rear, with the large strap going up over the right shoulder. The small strap with the hook goes on to the back of the belt.
How later war? You can see pictures from France after D-day where apparently entire units discarded much of their equipment, including their entire gas mask can. If you have a cape, keep it. Otherwise I wouldn't go seeking one.

I wear my gas cape strapped to my can for late War events. On the gas can strap for 39/40.
