Hi: I have been looking all over for a spray paint to use on the metal of my M-1 to give it that greenish gray parkerized look of a WWII Garand. That medium to darkish gray parkerizing with a greenish hue, sometimes almost translucent green-gray. I know I can simply spray it flat/primer black or gray, but I really want that greenish look of a cosmolined gray M-1.
Please help and thanks!

Hi. The best to use is Brownells Parkerizing Gray. Aluma-Hyde. It's a tough, epoxy finish for all surfaces. The product number is 083-002-212 and their 800 # is 800 741 0015 or 641 623 4000 I used it on my Springfield build and it came out a kinda greenish/grey. Then I put just a small amt of white grease on it and rubbed it in with a paper towel. It darked up just fine and looks exactly like ww2 parkerizing. Good luck.

Good to know. I'm probably going to use this on my Garand conversion. Question: I've already sparyed the receiver and opertaing rod with Modelmaster's paint. Do I need to strip that off or can the Aluma-hyde go on over it?
Got the Aluma-hyde today. Dark Parkerizing Gray. Once it's wiped down with white lithium grease it comes out almost exactly the same color as my gas cylinder. Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll actually finish this project someday.
