I didn't find a better category to put this so... If your a lefty like me, that handles any type of gun you know that most of the time it's harder than for a righty. This was essentially dedicated to show how you use a gun to make it more comfortable if you're a lefty or give tips if you're a righty Now to start off with machine guns a lefty can tackle this easily where a right handed person would have to put his hand on the grip and then lift it up to pull the bolt back, a righty can have his left hand on the trigger and use his right hand to pull the bolt (It would be harder if you would have to guide the bullets into the gun but I don't know any airsoft guns that do that) Submachine guns are just as easy for the right handed. When you reload you can keep holding the gun by the pistol like grip with your left hand (somewhat hard if you're not strong) and reload while not really having to leave your eyes from the sights. For larger semi auto guns when reloading you can balance the gun on your hip and insert more bullets in but you completely loose your sights. For bolt actions it is the hardest but once you get used to it you'll be fine. You keep your right hand on the hand grip and push it into your left shoulder, lift the bolt with your left hand, pull it back, push it forward, set it down put your finger on the trigger and shoot. This way you don't let your eye off the sight at all. Comment and discuss more and better ways to handle these guns the lefties of the forum would really like to hear it!

I know it's only airsoft, but proficient "shooters" train to be ambidextrous.
This can be demonstrated while patrolling, folks on the right side of the formation face their weapon outboard (to the right) which is most effectively accomplished while holding the weapon as a "South Paw". Conversely, folks on the left side face the weapon to the left, and is best accomplished holding the weapon to the right shoulder. For CQB, the geometry of the spaces will dictate which mehtod is needed, thus ensuring that the shooter will expose only the absolute necessary body parts while employing the weapon. Food for thought, practice shooting righty as well as lefty.

For this reason, I always ask if there are any lefties in the group when setting up a patrol so they can be tasked with covering the right. Works out best for everyone.

Dread Pirate Roberts: Then why are you smiling? Inigo: Because I know something you don't know. Dread Pirate Roberts: And what is that? Inigo: I am not left-handed. Dread Pirate Roberts: You're amazing! Inigo: I ought to be after twenty years. Dread Pirate Roberts: There is something I ought to tell you. Inigo: Tell me. Dread Pirate Roberts: I'm not left-handed either.

HornetWso is right. I am a lefty, but can shoot right handed when the situation calls for it.

Something I learned when I was shooting small bore competition in college. You're not just right or left handed, you have a dominant or master eye that's stronger than the other one. This affects your ability to aim. homestudy.ihea.com/shootingskills/03dominanteye.htmTypically if you're right handed your right eye is your master and vice versa. This was a problem for some shooters who were right handed but had a left master eye.

Niether of my eyes seem to be dominant. I tend to act like my right eye is, as I am right handed, but using a scope, telisope, ect I can do either without much differance in perference. As a matter of fact, I am the same way with my hands... I am right handed in 90% of the things I do, but a few I feel more comfortable doing it like a lefty. I swing a baseball bat right handed, but a hockey stick or golf club I use left handed. So maybe I'm the freak...

Ive trained to shoot left or right handed though I am right handed. I have been training my left side to be better but every time I pick up a gun it still feels strange holding it on my left sholder lol. It just takes time.

That's why most Lefties like to use smg's when they have to use right hand,my dominant eye is right and I shoot right. Lol.

To be honest, I lift up my m4 and try to shoot lefty, and I fail usually miserably. After a year, I'm growing a bit ambidextrous.

As my father used to say: "I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous". He was left handed and it was always interesting watching him work a bolt action rifle. He was very very good which I mostly attribute to his incredible eye sight. He and my oldest brother used to compete on who could read a licsense plate first on cars comng the other way or name the state. The two of them were uncanny. Both were amazing shots.
