I found out that Airsoft Atlanta has the TM Thompson in stock and I'm considering purchasing it. But, first I would like to know what kind of upgrades I should install to make to power increase for woodland play(I would at least like a spring that produces 375fps and a tight bore barrel to increase that to 380-385fps). I also want to run a 9.6volt battery and install to real wood furniture.

I also want to run a 9.6volt battery and install to real wood furniture. I would first like to say that TM uses some of the best parts to make their airsoft guns. They area reliable and have a long service life. I didn't buy one becasue they are too expensive for the work that you need to put into them for upgrades. I purcashed a CYMA M1A1 off of eBay for $130 and rebuilt the gear box, installed a high speed motor, added a mosfet, and a tb barrel for another $100. Bought a 7.4v 2300 mAh 20 C lipo for $10 and I now have a 380 fps / 28 rps Thompson replica. I bought wood furniture and returned it. It was very expensive and was not as good as the plastic ... I did however, paint it to look more like realistic wood. Anyway, this just my story. Don't get me wrong, TM is a great way to go ... just really expensive.

I already have a CYMA M1A1 but I like the "blued" finish of the TM.

Yea the TM has a nice finish and the internals will last longer. If your looking to upgrade it a CYMA might be a better choice though. I always re-paint and age my guns so the finish isn't a problem to me.

Yeah but what I need to know is what is the maximum spring the stock gears can take without stripping. And what would I need to do to is make the TM either Lipo ready or take a 9.6 so I get a good rate of fire.

Why do you want to put the strongest spring possible in? 350 fps is perfecly fine. I'd put in an M100 or PDI 130% spring.

I wouldn't go over 400 fps, nobody would want to play with you and you'll be turned down at some fields.

I have an M110 spring & stock XYT gears in my CYMA ... the XYT gears are very strong for a stock set. I would stick with a gun that is under 400 fps and under 30 rps. Stay away from 11.1v Lipo's ... an upgraded gun with a 7.4v 20C Lipo and ECHO 1 high speed motor will give you all the ROF you need and your gun will last a long time. 7.4v Lipo ~ $10 ECHO 1 Motor ~ $45 Here is mine painted it up and made it look really good ... check it out: ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gear&action=display&thread=7853
