I bought mine after handling the ICS, which it turns out is plastic. Apparently "metalline" is code for "metal like". The ARES feels and plays great and fortunately the charging handle is on the correct side, contrary to early pictures floating around.

The battery pack of three magazines at $88.00 (with batteries) seems quite affordable assuming shipping isn't too awful. Obviously with four 65 round mags you'd certainly be skirmishable at most WW2 style events. I have seem and fired the Ares Greaser and it is quite impressive. I didn't realize the ICS was not metal. Assuming the usual shipping cost from Asia this Greaser with three spare batteries would probably end up being around $500.00 I am guessing?
Incidently for those wondering the magazines cleverly snap into place when loaded and provide a quick, automatic, electric contact so the only time you're messing with thr tamiya clip is when you mount the batteries before events. Hence the nice heavy magazines function just like conventional low caps with regard to how they reload

The ICS isn't metal? Bummer, well that explains the too good to be true price tag!

So now I own both the Ares and the ICS. The Ares is awesome, but when you're playing against Germans with high-caps, you're gonna be outgunned every time. I've converted my Ares to an M3a1 (All they did to make it an M3 was add the cocking handle) and I'm modifying the ICS to make it more accurate. The action cover in front of the trigger guard is too deep and is plastic but I'm hoping that by adding welding seams, deleting the wrong rivets and adding correct ones, and refinishing the gun in Aluma-Hyde, I'll overcome the aesthetic problems inherent in the ICS version. This guy did an amazing job with his www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=103117.0

Great tutorial on jazzing up the ICS Greaser but way more thorough than anything I would feel compelled to do. I do like the way he redid the barrel ring, the addition of the notches in the sliding stock and the simulated welds. Obviously the paint finish is the key thing I intend to tackle. I will pass on the finish that requires baking in an oven as my marriage of 35 years is too much to risk. It did however turn out spectacularly authentic.
Ill post pictures of my efforts when done. Incidently this gun fires way way better than I had anticipated. Really too good for a submachine gun. With 20 grams it chrono'd right at 372 to 378. I have a 9.6 battery driving it which provides a faster rate of fire than a greaser should have. An 8.4 would probably be about right. The tiny area for the battery is a pain.
