Hi, my question is, are these german low boots original? they look like the early low boots.

How did I know that was coming...lol. Maybe the boots are original and the tacks are a bad "restoration"?

Ok thanks for the advise. I wont buy them. To put it bluntly (but not trying to sound like a dick), why? If you are looking for a pair of low boots for reenacting purposes, I would highly advise against using original German low boots for various reasons, such as the fact that repros are much cheaper and more readily available, originals will fall apart on you (60+ year old leather doesn't do great under the condition that boots are under in the field), and do to the fact that you do not want to destroy a pair of original German boots reenacting. Now, if you are looking for a pair of original boots for collecting purposes, then yes, I would probably stay away from those. Just my .02. -Shawn

but in fairness we dont know the back story... if for example the original OP has been offered these and told they are 'orginal' and therefore the guy offering them wants silly money but now advice on here has revealed the 'offerer' to be telling porkies* then its wise to say 'no' to the offer. No point paying several hunded dollars for something you're told is a 1943 original if its not... If on the other hand the guy wants $5 for them then you have a valid point * porkies - cockney ryming slang... 'pork pies' = 'lies'

If the guy wants a stupid amount for them, then he should probably avoid them altogether.

As Shawn said,I would NOT use original German lowboots in the field either. There are plenty of well made repros out there to use than beating up an original rare set.

Not this time Bob. "How did I know that was coming." was in reference to the joke "Lets get down to the brass tacks here boys! " That's all.
