Hello, I might be able to get a Tanaka G33/40, but I need some information considering the weapon's distribution to German units during the war, particularly what types of units were equipped with the G33/40. I am already aware that Gebirgsjaeger were issued with them, but I have also read that Calvary units also used them. Can anybody please tell me exactly which types of units used them?

I feel the truth is that hardly anyone got them? The full size rifle was by far the most common even in gebirgs units.

Do you think I could get away with using one in just a standard Heer or Waffen SS impression? I haven't been able to find much information on GBJ uniforms, especially the trousers. Dose anybody here do an impression of a GBJ??

Or you make up a backstory that you picked up a G33 40 from a dead gebirgsjager when your Kar98K was damaged ;D

GBJ had their own issue trousers and boots, they didnt just add badges to regular HEER uniforms.

Yes, but the "trousers were only issued in limited quantity..." from GBJ reenactors' site

they didnt just add badges to regular HEER uniforms. Yes they did. How many trousers were badged? You badge tunics, which were exactly the same issue to GBJ as any others. The trousers thing equates to the British Paratrooper trousers. There was a different pattern trouser for this special job but not everyone got them. You can wear keilhose for GBJ. The boots were usually the special issue mountain boots, they were worn by GBJ even when they were sent to other units. There were special putties and gaiters for mountain troops but you often see rolled socks. Another GBJ icon is the bergmutze, looks a bit like an M43 but isnt. Get one of those and the boots and you are starting to get the look.
