Hello everyone. I am trying to complete my vsr10 k98k project. One of the snags I ran into is the rear sight Assembly. The original is too think for most tools to cut. Therefore I think it would be best to fabricate one. However I need some input on how to build a accurate and sturdy one as the rifle will be skirmished with. Any help is appropriated thanks!

On my K98s I have used the one from the original. It is really tough to cut though even with a proper electric tool. I am planning in the future to fabricate one from sheet plastic. Wood might also work too.

I'm afraid I wont have any dremel bits left If i use the original. I'm thinking about using plastruct or carbon fiber to build one.

use a hack saw to remove the pice the sight is attached to, so taht it fourma a U shape. then use super glue soaked popsicle sticks to make sight ramps. JB weld it to the reciver.
i did not have the problem of not being able to cut it, rather i was unsastifyed with the hight, and chose to do it my own way.
are you making a soviet impression? i would assume so with all the profile garb.

I actually just did the sights on mine this morning. I cut it so it was in the shape of a U and then used the front sight of the bar10/vsr11 to make flat surface to put it on, then I used a crap load of JB weld to hold it.

I could take some later. I'll put them on the thread I made a long while ago, the actual internals of the bar10 were falling apart and it litteraly took me weeks just to get them fixed (they were already damaged when I bought them and eventually they just turned to crap) So that's why I left the thread

Another way would be to make a resin cast of the dboys rear sight base or just the top portion of it. Then it would be spot on but much much easier to sand to fit.

It's a gun metal spray paint that looks great. I can't blue the metal as it's not steel.

Aluminum darkener is your friend, when it comes to bluing non steel. It has worked for me, not a problem.
