First and foremost this is being written as a very strict theme op. If someone wearing flectarn and using something slightly modern turns you off read no further. I have made the decision to make this a strict theme event to allow as many players as possible to have a great time. Also this game has not come to life yet. It is on the drawing board right now. If this game comes to fruition then more developments will be made.
Since the end of ww2 is filled with confusion and the fact that it is very facinating lets say this takes place durring the Russians 6th and final attempt to destroy the German pocket.
I am writing this for UBG since that field just seems perfect for this. A projected date would be April- June 2012. I have sent a copy of this to the UBG staff but have yet to hear back.
Projected cost would be 25$ for authentic loadouts and 30$ for bare minimums. Check out their website UBGairsoft.com It is a great field in Bourne MA. The field has a town, trenches, and many buildings. Also it has a road around the field for vehicles. It is a fantastic field.
Day Itinerary
Arrive and set up 8am-10:00 am
10:15 UBG safety briefing
10:30 Game Brief
10:45 Forest Brothers Take the field.
11:00 all other foreces take the field
11:20 Game Start.
Game play 11:20-6pm
6:30 pm Raffle
Lunch Break. No lunch break. Bring all the food and water you need on to the field. Each side will have a safe area they can keep their gear and what not. At no time should people be milling around in the parking lot. This is a continuous play OP. If you do not think that you are capable of this, well this is not the OP for you.
Things to Bring.
Positive attitude
your A Game
A radio ( if you do not bring a radio or are in a unit with out a radio then your probably going to be pissed off and confused alot.)
Proper hydration.
Map of UBG
Food. reprorations.com/Products%20Links.htm they are cheap and tasty for the most part. Or what ever.
All the gear and ammo you need to last a full day with out going to your car!!!!!!! I can not stress that enough.
Russians would have access to an artillery piece (my Multilauncher www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPI1UUwAl5c ) and I would assign 5 panzerfaust(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZSOTUcvfO4 ) to a russian Anti tank unit, certainly start the russians off with the UBG jeep. I would make a special cannon for it to. Being able to let players use different weapons is fun and exciting for all and adds new thrills to the game.
The Germans will have a neblewerfer, a few panzerfaust and a panzershcreck....Also I have taken the liberty of contacting a local ww2 vehicle rental place. I would personally use my own funds to try to atleast rent a halftrack(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC1Fw...el_video_title) possibly a tiger. Still waiting on a reply but I assume it will cost me several thousand $$$'s but would be 110% worth it. Now I know your thinking. I know everyone wants to ride in a half track.
Standard props would include Smoke Machines, Breechable doors, mines, German and Russian Bi lingual signs, and loudspeakers that each side can use to spew propaganda at each other, possibly some field phones.
Order of battle.
Axis Units:
Army Group Courland (Heer, SS, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine) Idealy 20-30. Obviously more if interest for this game is had.
2 German Officers
Lithuanian Forest Brothers allied to the Germans 5-10 A very small squad but will have extremely valuable missions to do.
Soviet Units
2nd Baltic Front. 30-50
5-6 Officers.
Lithuanian 130th Rifle corps 10-20
10 or so Extremely Terrified Civilians to occupy house's in the village.
Weapons for all sides. They are moderately strict, but this is to make the game better.
First off a few ground rules. NO RIS, NO bi pods (unless period), no fore grips, no scopes (unless its on a mosin, k98 or period gun), red dots, lasers, peq and flashlights are 110% unacceptable. Remember this is ww2 not modern times.
All ww2 weapons for either side that is 110% suggested.
M14's
AK's
Shotguns
Bolti's
M60's (since they don't make affordable Mg42's)
Pistols of all sorts.
FN FAL's
MP5's
If you have something that could be counted as half ass'd let me know. Though NO RIS I can not stress that enough. Also I may buy some burlap wrap so every player that does not put in any effort into procuring a period gun, well they can sort of hide it.
Ammo Caps:
I think ammo caps are amazing. There fore There will be ammo caps. You can only carry what you have in magazines + 1 speed Loader. No bags or bottles of ammo. You may however keep your ammo at your sides Ammo Bunker. To get more ammo you will need to bribe the "supply Sgt" with Loot. I do not know what the loot will be but Gold bricks are easy to make. Again I will elaborate more on this point if this game happens. The "supply SGT'' will be a ref so no ones ammo will get stolen. Also either teams will be able to disable the ammo bunkers by placing explosives. So you will be unable to resupply for 30 or so minutes.
Wounded Rule:
Only the Forest Brothers, German and Russian Officers may be taken prisoner. Civilians can also be taken into custody and pumped for information.
If one of your officers is captured you may Shoot him to prevent them from giving out vital information.
If you are a regular foot slogging infantry man then you have a 1 minute bleed out. Once you bleed out you go back to your Spawn for 5 minutes.
Both the German and the Soviets will each have one mobile Respawn. They will be cumbersome and will require special players to construct. Forest brothers and the 130th lithuanians will be able to respawn at their respected allies mobile respawns. How ever any infantry unit from the other side that takes over a mobile respawn may destroy it, hide it in the woods or what ever. Once that happens the respawn is useless unless Engineers find the parts and repair it.
Red Rags required.
Uniforms:
Soviet ww2 impressions are preferred and extremely encouraged. Anyone showing up in legit stuff will save 5$
Basically the barebones minimal you need.
Soviet Post war solid color Green uniforms. (they can be found cheap and will sort of pass. I have used a 1970's officers coat at several games and have only been called out once by an Actual Russian fellow)
Green Military uniforms. Provoding they are of a solid green.
Green or Tan Dickies.
Tan Military uniforms....theorectically you could use an PAVN uniform if you had nothing else.
130th Same as above or like a 1940's civilian. If your wondering why I would allow the Lithuanian Rifle Corps to allow civi attire well this is my logic. Your a civi, russians advance and say "hey wana fight the germans?" Your a civilian and you go "sure would fancy that" boom there you are lithuanian civi fighting against the Germans.
Older Style Dress Shirt.
Possibly a bow tie or tie if your class
Sweater Vest
Slacks
Dress Shoes.
A Fedora....
Probably something that is of a much larger size. I am sure the rural lithuanians would loose weight after years of German Occupation and previous Soviet Occupation.
Forest Brothers.
1940's Civilian clothing.
German.
WW2 German Impressions are extremely suggested.
Bare Minimum to get on the field.
East German Gray Uniform
East German Blumentarn
East German Rain Camo
Flecktarn
Austrian Dot
Swedish or swiss trench coats and wool uniforms
Also if you have swiss libermuster or alpenflauge I will permit it as it is a late war event and some what similar to german libermuster.
Black or Gray Dickies.
I understand that on this forum many people will hate the non authentic uniforms. In the long run its for the best and will allow many people who do not have the ready funds to build a legit ww2 kit to still play and still have a great time. It will also give them a taste of ww2 airsoft and will inspire many of them to spend that money on a legit ww2 kit.
Please note on a very serious note. In order for this game to work you will need a strong leadership. If you can not find a strong leadership I can assure you that your team is going to fail miserably and you will be pissed. Commanders will be issued orders. It is THEIR responsibility (not the game staff, event runner) to tell their troops what to do. If you can not handle that this op is not for you. There will also be no timelimits for missions. But, to keep the game moving missions will be issued by the CO's every hour. You will then have until the 6pm cease fire to get the job done. Refs will Tally points for every mission completed and at 6pm. Again I can not stress this point enough.
Starting Positions:
www.ubgairsoft.com/template_02/Publish/images/201455_10150223606733474_500028473_8404580_1947763_o.jpg that is a field map.
Main German Force Inside Urbanville 2 B
German Anti Tank Unit At the Oil Depot 6 E
German Anti Tank Unit at Skohegen 4 C
German Artillery Unit At Secret Location
Forest Brothers Occupying A secret Location.
Russian Army Start At Map grid 9E
130th Lithuanians Start At Map Grid 3J
These are just prelim missions obviously if this game comes to life more will be written.
Axis forces.
Send out probes to find the Soviet Thrust while defending Urbanville, the Fuel Depot and Skohegan.
The German Army was known for having extreme buerocratic absurdness even in the dieing days of the Reich. Artillery Unit. Send a man to requisition Ammo from German Commander. German Commander Sign the paper. German Artillery man go to Ammo Depot and retrieve 5 artillery rounds. Bring Ammo to Nebelwerfer. Go back to German Commander and obtain a written fireing order.
Bring fuel to Urbanville "motor Pool". Probably the Police station. Fuel Depot "Commander...probably a ref" Must have signed paperwork from the German Commander to release fuel. once the fuel is heffed back to the Motor Pool the Panzers may roll for 30 minutes or until they are knocked out.
Find a Soviet Officer. Capture Him/her. Soviet Officers will be marked with something... Soviet Officers may be captured once they are wounded. Bring the Soviet Officer to the German CO's bunker and interogate. Once interogation is complete the officer will be escorted to the POW Camp 4B(on map). They will then be held prisoner for 10 minutes or until they are released or killed by their captors.
I will errect 3-4 flag stations on 10'-20' sections of radio tower.
One in urban ville, one at the fuel depot and one at the secret forrest brothers hang out. These are really the only spots the Germans need to worry about all day. There will be a german flag and a soviet flag. I know sometimes people have a hard time with flag stations but Axis forces raise the German Flag and Soviets the Soviets flag.
Forest bro's missions.
While Staying in a secret position monitor the Soviet and 130th' Radio in the coordinates to the Germans.
Confuse the enemy by any means possible.
Tons of secret missions that will not be revealed until game day.
Soviet Missions/ 130th missions:
Break into Hades (3D on Map) and Steal Russian Vodka Supply. Bring back to spawn.
Move Artillery into a position that can Threaten any German Flag point. Proceed to bombard position until all the occupants of that position are dead or until you are destroyed.
Capture Forest Brothers and find German Intel. Ie location of hidden loot, hidden rocket teams ect ect.
Decode German Intel.
Send out Engineers to find the hidden mines from 3E-3I on the map. Yes the field has mines. Lots and lots of mines.
Keep your officers from becoming prisoners
Send Anti Tank Units to destroy German Armor.
Find and Neutralize german Artillery ammo storage sites.
Send sappers to knock out the german ammo bunker.
There will be many many many more.
So in the end I think this can be an epic game with tons of insane props. A high number of players can be obtained for this 60-100. If I can manage to get that ww2 vehicle rental service to rent me a few vehicles it would be even more insane. (I am not sure if a tank or half track could be transported across the Canal bridges or if UBG would allow it. Regardless post up what you think. Would you be interested in this event?
Also I Do run events so we do not have many kinks when it comes to running this game. If you our interested to see another large scale op go to youtube and type in Middle East Meltdown. Don't mind the series of videos where they claim the bs. They were upset that it was a MILSIM op and not a run and gun.
Since the end of ww2 is filled with confusion and the fact that it is very facinating lets say this takes place durring the Russians 6th and final attempt to destroy the German pocket.
