This weekend I started working on my m14 to convert it into a g43. This is going to take me some time to do because how much technical detail that is in a g43. I plan to use fiberglass metal to make parts. If anyone has any tips please let me know. Thanks, Zach

Good luck with your build! I'd really love to custom build one myself. Here are some of the problems other customizers encountered throughout the years:
- M14 gearbox motor angle: Once properly seated in the stock, there was no space for the trigger
- Gearbox-hop=barrel alignment: The g43 barrel exits the stock at a lower level than the nozzle of the m14 gearbox..you'll have to replace the cylinder head with maybe a version3 and customize the tappet plate.
-magazine placement: M14 barrel too close to trigger group: You could try flipping the magazine around so that the bb feed is in the rear instead of the front. Or fabricate a longer nozzle and a new hop chamber.
I hope you are successful! So far, no one's done it as good as Gryphon has on these forums and he never posted detailed pics of his build. Over at the UK forums, on his first attempt using an m14 gearbox, the builder gave up due to some of the problems mentioned above but he has since finished an excellent springer version using the internals of the A&K dragunov springer.
If the M14 gearbox doesn't work for you, you may want to try the new A&K dragunov AEG.
Again, good luck and have fun! And post lots of pics!

i will. for now im just going to use the m14 stock and modify it to as close as the real one. This past weekend i have been removing any unneeded parts and cutting of pieces of the alumminum. I plan to do a lot of work over my christmas break. I really hope i. do a good job so other people will have guidlines to make their own. i also want to keep the cost down on parts. once i start major work i will post pictures

How was the progress over Christmas? Hopefully you got lots done and can share how it's coming along. This is clearly a rifle that needs to be made available by a majopr manufacturer but a good weapon for the do-it-yourselfers as frankly this is not a rifle likely to be available commercially anytime soon. If you're willing to accept a lot of compromises and infidelities it should be a manageable project.

If I don't need it "today", this is my source for composite material. Also very good prices. www.uscomposites.com/If I need it the same day, I go to West Marine and buy their West System.

Another source for fiberglass resin is TAP Plastic (There are stores in most major cities) and ACE Hardware. Go to the Marine / Automotive section It is a Bondo product at ACE and is called DynaGlass. I prefer the product sold at TAP but both work very very well. (Wear a respirator and use ear plugs when sanding. The ear plugs prevent the dust from accumulating in your ear canal.
