After many years and much sweat it is nearly done. I have yet to take it to a game but there is one this may in Alberta, Canada so maybe it'll get some shooting time then. Used some copper pipe and a 1/4 threaded adapter for the barrel. Friction fitted repo parts onto it with hockey fabric tape (cause kind of Canadian would I be if I didn't have hockey tape in the house ;D). Had to grind out the action to get the extra bits for the bolt to work. As you can see the original bolt still works so I have a back up now. I had to get a friend of a friend to help me transfer the bolt forward. Used Key stock (bar stock) I got at canadian tire (like a canuck walmart) and welded the bolt to it. The bolt is a threaded drawer knob and a bolt that I cut and bent. And voila! I have to add the fake magazine housing, clean it up a bit and that's about it. If anyone has any good suggestions on paint for copper that would be great. I've tried two kinds (rustoleum and primer with some no name outdoor metal spray) and neither have held very well. I would stain it but I dont know if I can stain copper. Any help is appreciated as usual and till I get another update, Bocca del lupo

Brownell's Alumahyde is the way to go. You can spray that on and a bit later rub a very light coat of grease over it and it will darken up and look very much like a dark parkerizing finish. I've used it on all of my guns so far.

Jim, shot well until I wore out the cocking piece on the bottom of the bolt. I also have to re seat the magazine and tune up the hammer. A new steel G&G cocking piece will fix pretty much all of my problems.
Warbird, glad I could help but let me give you a few pieces of advice before you start.
1)don't buy used. I only bought used because I live in Canada and airsoft guns are 3 times the price here.
2)don't design your bolt the way I did. See toast's mosin build halfway down the linked thread (http://ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=armoryarchives&action=display&thread=8202). I say go for practicality and don't move the bolt forward but if you insist use his method.
3)Don't use a m700 take down. Complicates your life, trust me haha.

Don't confuse the people It's no where near 3x, unless you are picking up a rare piece.

it was when I bought the M700 and I still regret it but you are right, they have come down significantly in price.

What did you do about the hop up wheel on top of the receiver?

Jim, since its a take down the hop up is a separate unit connected to the inner barrel. That was my only reasoning for buying a take down really and I kind of got lucky when I found one for cheap.
Also updates! The carcano works! It turned out to be a worn magazine firing piston (or what ever its called; the thing that the hammer strikes). Now to give it a slap of paint, buy a new mag, make a fake magazine well and put it together. Chrono results will follow soon.

Excellent! When you start working on it take lots of pictures.
Alright I have a new problem that maybe some of you can help fix. I fire the gun with out any BB's in the barrel and I get a strong shot of gas. The instant a BB is in the barrel I get a weak shot of gas and the BB flies 2 feet. I think it's a sealing problem but I'm not 100% sure. Any ideas?
