Hey I'm rocking a PG load out but need some collar tabs and such. I know my sleeve is the "Gross Desutchland", but for the collar tabs, I don't know if I need the Infantry white or the Panzer pink, as well as rank, I'm probably throw on something on the equivalent of a US Sergent.

Also, I haven't seen any information regarding shoulder boards, my M36 comes with standard green ones but do certain units have a special piping and such?

Wehrmacht Panzer Grenadiers It would be white. I used to think it was pink too but they are still infantry.

The Panzergrenadier color was light green, but since many ranks were filled from existing infantry, white works as well. As far as collar tabs (litzen) go, just get the generic ones. (it's easier if you change impressions down the road. and they're SO small, no one sees them anyway)

Awesome guys, thanks! Besides the collar tabs and sleeve banner, is there any other form of squad, personal or "lower" identification (like what army detachment you're from and such). Oh and what web site would have all of these various insignias, repros of course

If you're doing GD properly you'll need the following insignia. Grossdeustchland cufftitle white waffenfarbe field grey or bottle green shoulder straps - these should have the 'GD" cipher on them. White trimmed gorget patches Rank wise... i'd seriously avoid SGT unless you love sewing. German NCOs collars are lined with silver tress or 'litzen' and its a pig to sew on... also 'feldwebel' (or similar) Sgt ranks were quite senior and amnistrative type positions (like a British SGT), they handled platoon admin, discipline, ammunition supply etc. Squad leaders were 'unterofficers' in theory (roughly corporal) but in reality the lack of trained NCOs meant that gefreitors and obergefreitors (not NCOs but experiences soldiers - like a senior PFC) would lead squads quite often. Lastly... if you do Gross deustchland you are limited to Eastern Front battles only, the GD never fought in the west so you'll look odd fighting anything but russians! Heres some pics of my infantry unterfeldwebels impression, you can see the litzen sewn on here. I've also deliberatley kept it generic so it can be any unit. Incidentally i'm badged up as a SGT rank as at events i'm usually in the rear co-ordinating stuff and its an appropriate rank for an event organiser. (as said in the US army you have a lot of SGTs and its not as senior a rank as it is in european armies... a german unterfeldwebel which is the lower of the sgt ranks is about the same as a US '1st Sgt')

Gadge, to my understanding, and I may be wrong, Unteroffizier is the equivalent to a Sargent. But on the topic at hand, with the waffenfarbe, you could wear white (probably best) or pink as I hear that many panzer grenadiers were transferred from armor units to panzergrenadier units, but this was mainly in the early days of the panzergrenadier as it was new during WWII. Another thing I heard was about some panzergrenadiers wearing gebirsjäger waffenfarbe, as it was closer to the grass green that was issued around 42-43. But I don't know how accurate this statement is. I have panzergrenadier waffenfarbe on bottle green shoulderboards, I don't know how accurate that is. But I do know that bottle green shoulderboards were worn on M40 the feldbluse so it might be fine. But yeah. I would say infantry waffenfarbe is best.
