As most of you know, I just finished putting together the SS impression. But now, I was assigned with another task. My friend wants me to help him build a FJ impression! For his weapon, he wants an FG42. He is willing to wait for the SRC one to come out. So he is going to be an FG42 gunner. So far, we have this: www.hessenantique.com/Fallschirmj_ger_Jump_Smock_Type_III_Splinter_Cam_p/ha18701.htmwww.hessenantique.com/Luftwaffe_M38_Fallschirmj_ger_Trousers_p/2132103.htmwww.spearheadmilitaria.com/ww2-german-fallschirmjager-fg42-bandoleer-fieldgrey-p-5052.htmlI know that the FJs were supposed to ditch their jump smocks when they landed and fight with their grey wools, but most of them kept their smocks on. Also, which camo smock was more common? The splinter, oakland or 44 dot camo? I know all were used, but I like the look of splinter. We are still researching places to find the M38 helmet, boots and webgear. Also, for the trousers, I plan on keeping the grey wool ones. or should I get camo jump trousers? Was the webgear of an FJ the same as an infantryman's? I'm pretty sure it had the same components. I know here, a lot of people have FJ impressions, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just finished my FJ impression last summer. For a ww2 Game, Dont ditch the smock. its good protection for me The webgear is somewhat similar. maybe a different color but basically the same webgear. If this is his first airsoft Sort of game/gun go with a AGM MP40 or AGM StG44. I own that exact smock, its comfortable, correct color, and its faded if he doesnt like that. so yes on that. I have that exact set of pants. They are right. Nobody around my area has a FG42....but Pictures and books helped me build mine. Just get the FJ M38 trousers. as for other gear boots i have cold/wet intermediate boots. not sure what brand but they look almost exact to FJ boots got em for 50 $ instead of fj boots 100-200 $. Besides. Not many FJ had FG42's it was originally a test gun, and it never went into Prod. and mostly officers had it Id reccomend a AGM STG44 to the best or a Custom spring Kar98k. Hope this help and tell him good luck from me ;D

Only use the Splinter B or Marsh 43/44 patterns for the jump smock. The oak and dot were almost never used, if ever.

Haha, oh alright. Yeah, I'm not too handy either. Ok so question:
The web gear, what do you mean when you say that it's a slightly different color? The tropical Y-straps? Here is a list of the general web gear:
Y straps FG 42 bondalier Gas mask canister Gas cape and pouch Breadbag Belt E-tool Knife? Canteen
If I am missing anything or have something that I don't need, the pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Now that I think about it, I haven't really seen a gas mask canister on any FJs. But I thought EVERYONE in the German military had to have one.

Not everyone HAD to have one. FJs usually didn't, but I say that because I've never seen one with a gas mask canister

Think about it chaps, you're a 'hunter falling from the sky', as little as possible 'hard' equipment went with you on the drop (usually just a pistol and helmet), the respirator was in cloth bag to stop it breaking your bones. German parachutes didnt work like US and British ones, they tended to drop you pointing face down IIRC, this is why you see knee and elbow pads on FJ. FJ impessions change drastically depending on the period of the war. Early war you see a very styled unique uniform, late war its not uncommon to see army issue kit as stocks became scarce of even simple items like helmets. Once again the most rudimentary books and website research will tell you this. Smocks BTW were pretty much worn all the time. At Crete it was so hot that some FJ removed their trousers and wore the smocks as a sort of short trouser overall. The only time i can recall them not being worn were the Ramcke brigade in North Afrika who IIRC wore lufty desert trousers and shirts and FJ helmets. FJ are not my forte but my friend Tom is an expert on them. Here are some impresions he did for a magazine for me... these are AFAIK all 'museum perfect' and most the fieldkit is original. FJ invasion of low countries - eben emael etc Crete Italy

Ah i dont have photos for US army/airborne impressions. No offence chaps but i've never found WWII US kit remotely interesting Vietnam however..... i've collected that stuff for 20 years After vietnam I'm digging US kit til about 1986 and then again I totally loose interest. I'm pretty disinterested in WWII soviet stuff too!
