Hello, thanks to all who helped me figure out my feeding problem in the AGM STG44. I have a question regarding upgrading the gun. In essence, I want to replace ALL the internals. This will be my first overhaul. Has anyone swapped gearboxes on this gun before? I know it is a V.2 like an M4/M16 but the STG has a motor mount, would this pose a problem? Regarding accuracy, I currently have an Echo 1 Hop up metal unit with an unknown bucking and "H" knob. I am looking a spending under $200 in internal upgrades. The gearbox I know will be the most expensive part, what is a good, complete, gearbox?

Why exactly do you want to get a new gearbox? The Stg44 already shoots 400fps out of the box. Maybe just throw in a better piston and a spring guide with bearings for durability purposes. If I was going to upgrade something on my Stg44 it would be the barrel and hop up unit. The barrel and hop up are what give you accuracy. I'd install a tightbore barrel and a R-nub and call it a day. Just my opinion. www.airsoftforum.com/board/hop-installation-manual-t225374.html

So I should not ditch the shell, so to downgrade the FPS to like 350 and have a faster rate of fire I should have better bearings and motor?

I remember a few people I talked to and even one of my friends had to buy "downgrades" because the FPS is too high out of box
But I hear the accuracy a bit crappy, and my friend used a tightbore barrel and different kind of bearings

I swapped my GB for a King Arms one. Minor issues with the selector switch, but nothing major. From safe, I have to switch to full auto, and then semi to get semi auto, if I just switch from Safe, it sometimes doesn't click in the right spot. Past that no issues in doing so. But like others have said, unless it's broke don't fix it

Well...I have blah ROF and horrendous accuracy! When it comes to fire rate, I am using that gun as my skirmish gun against other tactical AEGs for normal games when I still dress as WWII. So I do not care for an authentic ROF on it.

Honestly why do you need a fast rate of fire?? I think it just causes more ammo wasting. Accurate and hard hitting is all you need. A R hop should sky rocket accuracy and a tight bore should help too.
If your stuck on ROF a better motor and weaker spring would help combined with a better battery probably a Lipo. Make sure your shim job is good too.

Well, I forgot to mention, I am a CQB'er lol. That is what I was thinking. What exactly is a torque motor?

Especially at close range ROF shouldn't be a big factor. A hit is a hit whether its 5bbs or 20bbs. I hate CQB though ;D. High torque motor is going to give you a higher rate of fire . Torque is 1: The moment of a force; the measure of a force's tendency to produce torsion and rotation about an axis, equal to the vector product of the radius vector from the axis of rotation to the point of application of the force and the force vector. 2: A turning or twisting force.

My MP44's main issues were crappy accuracy and a pitiful excuse for a hop-up. I replaced the barrel with a tight bore, and bought a better hop up bucking as well as a weaker spring so i would not shoot over 400 fps.
beyond that, i've had no other issues.

Sometimes, all you need is to push the barrel back in to fix accuracy issues. Carrying the MP44 by the strap tends to loosen the barrel.

The barrel or the whole hop up unit?

Just the barrel. There is a grub screw that you can loosen or tighten with an allen wrench hidden under another screw on the forward left hand side. I'll try and post pics later.

Actually, it's the whole outer barrel, inner barrel and hop unit that slides forward sometimes. If you're going to use this for CQB (isn't this a little too long, big and heavy?) then you can get a faster rate of fire just be using an 11.1V Lipo instead of the stock battery. No need to change anything else really.

I already know how to take it apart, thank you labrador. Jimmiroquai, I am a troll like that, I have never liked itty bitty guns
