Formed in 1934 under the cover name of Infanterieführer II, the 12.Infanterie-Division has a long history, spanning the entirety of the War in Europe. Initially, the division included Infantry Regiment 27, formed in Rostock and Infantry Regiment 48, created from the 5th (East Prussian) Regiment of the former Reichswehr. In 1937, Infantry Regiment 89, raised in Schwerin, was added.
ACTION REPORTS: ~In 1939 it fought in the invasion of Poland and in 1940 it participated in the invasion of France. It remained on occupation duties until May of 1941, latterly in the Netherlands.
~In June of 1941 the division joined Operation Barbarossa under Army Group North, and remained under that command until the end of 1943. In 1942 it was one of the divisions encircled in the Demyansk Pocket.
~It was rebuilt as the 12th Volksgrenadier Division in October of 1944, and fought the rest of the war in the west under Army Group B. It participated in the defense of Aachen, the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge. In April 1945 it surrendered at Wuppertal upon the collapse of the Ruhr Pocket.
The unit represents the 12th Infantry Division through all stages of the war, and are glad to recieve any members from across the Midwest.

Dracul: It looks like it lost a lot of steam and I now feel bad for randomly dropping off.

stuka: I mean it's not your fault. It is interesting though that things are falling off as we are finally getting our ww2 guns with the type 38/96 and the enfield as well as it recieving a new loading system, it's kind of unfortunate

Dracul: I don't know, maybe its because all the guns are becoming available, there is a decreasing need for the forums.

Dracul: Most of the talk was about making guns, as all the uniform info was already out there, but now the weapons are out there and are usually decent quality.

savoy6: anyone know if anyone still carries the enfield?
Jul 15, 2018 18:47:08 GMT -5
Dracul: I think Redwolf has a Enfield. If not or not longer, then not until G&G releases theirs. The old gas Iron Airsoft brand SMLE isn't carried by anyone anymore and was such piece of crap. Not worth trying to track one down.
