I know that only Grossdeustchland (which is what I represent) and snipers as well as other units were given camo, but here is what I'm confused on: Obviously they didn't use the SS dot camo, or the splinter fall or spring, but this little doohicky I see here: My problem is, there are THREE variations? (Just scroll down the page, you'll see them www.hessenantique.com/Wehrmacht_Camouflage_s/95.htm) Which is "more" correct? I'm pretty sure the tan/water camo was used by the Fallschrimjaeger, but was done as a jump smock. Also, it seems as though the helmet cover doesn't match any of them other than the reversible parka.

The smock that you have shown with that photo is interesting. It looks like a Waffen SS M40 smock made in splinter camo pattern. Waffen SS had quite a lot of camo patterns but Splinter? Never seen one of those before. Looks like one of those questionable ones you can find on ebay from a china vendor.
IIRC Heer Splinter smocks were a slightly different cut and didn't have the elasticised sleeve or waist. The sleeves had tabs with buttons and the waist had a drawstring. Heer smocks were made with a HBT weave ( I think). Early SS smocks were made of Zelt material and later on in other materials such as HBT.
The Hessen smocks look ok.
The heer splinter pattern helmet cover is most likely made of the same material Sturm makes their Zelts out of. That may be why it doesn't match up well in the Hessen photos. Nothing wrong with that since the originals were IIRC were irregular items using a drawstring and not clips that may have been made by tailors in the field from zelt material (cotton duck?)
The Sturm Heer camo smocks are made of a different textile than their Zelts and helmet covers as should be the case.
If it was my purchase I'd go for the simple Splinter smock. The Sumpfmuster smocks were somewhat less common I believe.
