Hello ww2aa community
Recently i have been having a major issue with my CYMA Thompson. I bought the gun used and it worked just fine for a while, but eventually it stopped shooting entirely only to start again (and work fine) in a few minutes. Then one day the gun just stopped, the trigger will engage but nothing will happen and when i try to start in semi the trigger makes a strange clicking sound. Considering v6 gearboxes are easy to work on i want to fix it myself (as a first project) but i need to know what part to buy (or if i need a new part at all). thanks

That kind of problem is really irritating. I would suggest checking all the electrical connections for something loose, frayed. Then strip the box down. If it's like the ver 2 and 3 boxes you'll find a metal piece that slips between two elecric contacts when you pull the trigger to complete the circuit. Over time it becomes pitted and corroded, so there isn't a good connection. Cleaning it up with some emery cloth might fix it. Or it could be something completely different. Good luck.

I had a similar issue with my thompson's trigger circuit as well. The metal was gleaming, but the contacts were too far apart. All i had to do was tighten them.
Failing that, it may be the fuse.

Thanks for the advice, are there any videos detailing how i might go about checking and fixing the wiring? I have a soldering iron and i know how to use it so i think i could replace a fuse or re-attach a bad wire and upon inspection there is electrical tape wrapped around the wire near the tamia connector so the problem might be there

I have the same gun, and had the same problem. It is one of two things, either the fuse, or the battery

Turns out the issue is not as major as i thought. I bypassed the fuse to see if it was the problem and turns out that that was the only issue. As soon as i bypassed the fuse it worked like a charm, so i will just pick up a new fuse and be on my way. Thanks for setting me in the right direction guys.

Sometimes the fuses, even though they look intact, simply don't work. I find it helps to keep a fuse that is known to work for such a test.
It isn't always that easy as a bad fuse, but its saved me a hour or two on several occasions

I know the problem is solved but i thought I´d share this anyway.
I bought a used CYMA Thompson a week or so ago and it also ocasionally stopped shooting. It just wouldn´t turn the motor. At first I thought it was the fuse or the battery being dead but then I checked the wiring and finally found the problem. The tamiya connector from the gearbox(the one you disconnect when removing the stock) was broken so i replaced it and now it works like a charm.
The only problem now is that the Fire - Safe selector is loose, it doesn´t click into place like the Auto - Single one. Does anyone know a resolution to that?

I would use an allen key that matches the grub screw on the fire/ safe switch and carefully remove it. Inside the knob itself, is a tiny compressed spring with a plastic knob on the end that pushes on the reciever and actually clicks the knob in place. With the knob removed, check to see that the spring isnt jammed up inside the knob and that the little plastic clicker in the knob isnt worn down too much. If it is, add a touch of super glue to he tip of the clicker ONLY ONCE REMOVED!!!!!! ( or you will glue the clicker stuck inside the knob) the super glue will add some material back to he tip of the clicker and should make it work again. WARNING!!!!! Be carefull removing the knob, as the spring and clicker are VERY easy to pop out and lose!

Thanks for the tip, i removed the selector switch but both the spring and the plastic knob were missing. And when I put it back I managed to strip "the allen" in the allen grub screw.. I´ll just leave it loose till I get a new one. Now to find a wood kit in stock..
