The john-tom plans are off, most noticeably the barrel shroud (way too much taper).
I've got corrected john-tom plans if anyone wants them (got them from another boardmember then wound up going the parts-kit route)
That said, the shroud is a little over 2" square, with more pronounced rounded corners and slightly smaller proportions in front of the "taper". The receiver is the same, with the exception that the upper portion has the cut out (approx. 1/2") for the feed tray cover.
Total length should be ~ 36" from memory. Around 2" between the stock and the rearward edge of the feed tray cover.

masterchef - Yes, you got the plans from me. I've made measurements and corrections the hard way and would've liked if you'd at least remembered, especially when i gave them to you for free, having bought the john-tom plans myself, corrected them and paid for someone to draw up plans. Please refer interested parties to me in the future, instead of just sharing them without remembering who made them in the first place. That being said, aussie if you want the files, i can look for them and email it to you. But only if you really go ahead with this project all the way. I spent a total of $350 just to have the parts fabricated. This does not include the design and labor that i put into this project myself. If you have the will power and the airsoft know how to finish this build, i will gladly share the plans and any advice i can give. Otherwise, build something simpler first. I don't mean to come off as rude or anything, but a lot of love and effort and money went into my build...and i loved the results as well. I was sad to have to sell it. It's just that there have been multiple useless threads going "I'm going to build this and that...how do i do it?" without the poster doing any actual work at all. Don't get me wrong, i would really like for you to be able to use my plans to build your own MG42..but you have to really do it.

My apologies, I didn't mean to tread on your toes jimmiroquai. It won't happen again.
