Hello ww2aa I am proud to present the beginnings of my first ever ww2 gun build and possibly the first of it's kind, the PTRD-41. this gun is being built to fire 1 inch custom foam rounds and will not use a single part from an airsoft rifle. I can only go into so much details about the build as i might make (and hopefully sell) an ebook detailing the process for building the rifle. I can say that the rifle will be powered by an external co2 tank and should manage to shoot the rounds i am designing further than most standard airsoft sniper sniper rifles. Considering my budget and tools are limited you will notice some discrepancies between this replica and the real steal firearm, also note that this build is far from finished yet. Please feel free to leave some suggestions about the gun. Pictures: (note: in the pictures the barrel of the gun appears to be warped when in actuality the floor of my attic is warped and the barrel is straight)

That looks great so far! Will it fire something similar to a nerf dart? If it does, since they are commercially available, and all you would need to do would be to add some weight through the rear cavity, ammo could be very easy to keep up on, and be identical for greater precision. The only down side to using non spherical ammo would be that there would be no way to use a 'hopup' so it would have to have a rifled barrel. I would just make sure that it has a consistant pressure from shot to shot, and that the velocity of the projectile doesn't go so fast as to cause bodily harm at medium ranges, while keeping the trajectory reletively flat. Great job! Keep up the work!

thanks for the feedback. I will not be using nerf darts for this rifle as the caliber of the barrle is to wide i will be making a mold out of silicone and forming the rounds with two part foam. also the barrel will not need to be rifled because i will be forming the rounds with fins which will make the round rotate in a similar fashion. also i will be using a co2 regulator so it will give me the same amount of pressure for each shot.
