The weapon in the photo is the stand in for the rare and hardly seen Soviet AO-63 Assault Rifle , designed by S. G. Simonov and P. A. Tkachev in 1986 , some examples where used by Spetsnaz during trials conducted to replace the AK's. This particular stand in was used by Nikolai Rachenko(Dolph Lundgren) in the movie "Red Scorpion" .

Good call, I figured that if you recognized the gun in the picture, there is only one such gun that even resembles that even remotely, so someone would make the connection.

It's the British MCEM 3 Submachine gun in 9mm designed in 1947 , tested by the British but not adopted.

The German Army used more Mondragon's during WWI than the Mexican Army ever did.

and Chinese ,but the Mexican army still uses them in parades maybe becouse Manuel Mondragón was a Mexican general.
