Hum, had we all saved our $270 and been adding to it for the last 10 months.... ohioordnanceworks.com/Firearms/OOWExclusiveFirearms/1918A3_SLR.rifWe could have just bought the real thing??? OK.. maybe not quite the same price, and you can only shoot your friends once before it stops being any fun... Serously though, 10 months is insane. For the sake of ww2 airsoft, I really hope they do show up some day. The VFC is amazing, the nicest airsoft gun I've ever seen, however the price tag makes it unlikely for most of us to ever spend that much on a toy gun. I wanted a BAR when I started getting into airsoft, but quickly desided that wasn't going to happen when I saw the price tag! I really hope that this has not damaged customers from looking into ww2 guns (and the impressions that will soon come with it). I know had I preordered this and been first getting into ww2 airsoft, I would have been very put off.

I had been working on a conversion kit much like the Garand deal and had even started in doing the mules from which to make the eventual molds. I was in the final stages and had built four assorted prototypes. My price point was targeted at $500.00 with the hope that I could be around $450.00. When this Matrix deal was announced I dropped everything and sold off the components as quickly as I could hoping to at least bust out of my costs to that point. I fell short but felt that I had done the right thing. I even placed an order for two of the Matrix BARs which I left in place up until about a month ago. I now wish I had proceded with the project as there probably would have been 20 or 30 of them out there on the WW2 airsoft fields by now and I could have completely busted out of the set up expenses.
I remain hopeful that this affordable version will ultimately come out and no doubt I will be first in line. The BAR is a vital missing link in available arsenal and a critical weapon at the typical unit numbers we field.
Frustrating that is for sure.

Evike's reply to my picture question is:
Hello , There is no updated pictures is because we have not gotten the shipment in yet. It is a new item so we do not have one from a previous batch. Thank you for Airsofting and thank you for shopping with Evike.com. Your #1 Airsoft shop!
This one is a bit hard to believe for me. I would think the manufacturer would have some pictures to post.

1. Airsoft manufacturing in China is illegal. 2. Guns are now being made in Hong kong and Taiwan. 3. The Manufacturer I'm sure would send pictures to the vendor of the first production run prior to shipping. 4. Shipping from Hong Kong to the US by Sea freight takes 3 weeks 5. Customs/BATF clearence takes 3 to 5 days 6.... you won't see it by Halloween. Maybe April 1st? (April fools day)

people should be cautious! i am like 2nd bat when and i strongly say if this thing comes out i will buy one! i was sick of waiting and canceled my order about a month ago. Also i agree with the statement that there are always photos of the prototype and pictures before the gun is shipped. for now ill just wait and enjoy airsoft with the guns i own

So, you only play against people you don't like? Anyway, Kalbs, any idea what's going on with the China Formerly Known as Red that they banned manufacturing Airsoft guns? Seems illogical, considering how they're hot to produce export items as fast as they can. (I used to work for a Hong Kong based company who did most of their manufacturing in Guangdong.)

volkssturmSure, lots is still made in Southern China like Guangdong but not Airsoft toy guns anymore, at least that's what I've been told. They are/have all moved to Hong Kong or Taiwan now and in the process of setting shop up again. Note the MP44 is not listed as an AGM brand anymore but "Quality Power" or note the new re-branded groups like AEG Arms. We are seeing some JG and Dboy with the occassional CYMA pieces come through but I have no idea if it's old or new stock. On topic again and related to my above comment is that the normal course of buisness is issuing marketing photos or prototype pictures which are released to gain public interest plus gage demand prior to establishing a full production run. This has not happened at all with the Matrix BAR. Even though ithe AGM MG42 never made production, prototype pictures of the MG42 were released. The only pictures published thus far of the BAR have been of the VFC model. Therefor I have come to my own conclusion this is BS.

I think they (Blackbear, Matrix) had every intention to make this item but intensions don't always end up shooting BBs and I think this is a case of a great idea and a real market that hasn't been facilitated with even a prototype. Funding it with pre-orders was only a good idea if it had been expedited quickly and executed well. Neither of which has come to pass. Alas it is a dead end for now.

ya i agree this would have been a perfect opportunity for black bear to make a BAR but with the problems occuring in china and most of the companies being forced to relocate, this will take a very long time if not forever to happen, i just wouldnt get my hopes up on this happening if you havent canceled your order yet!

It reminds me of the Tucker automobile case in the 50's. The cars been promised, everybody wants one, but the prototype isn't complete.

The Tucker 48 was from the late '40s and at least the Tucker was delivered faster than the Matrix B.A.R , Tucker promised and then delivered , it was the Media of the time that gave the public the wrong idea on the Tucker 48 and made up stuff about the car that wasn't true.

Fiction (Latin: fictum, "created") is any form of narrative which deals, in part or in whole, with events that are not factual, but rather, imaginary and invented by its author(s).
The perfect definition

I have recently made up a couple BARs for my own local event use and am not going to attempt to resurect the effort. I sold off the mule I had made along with three un matched and non uniform prototypes. Ebay is sometimes my friend although one guy was sure pissed off about what he got and I ended up buying it back. (I'm not the one who bid it up so stupid and I shipped exactly what I described and showed in the pictures!) The other two guys loved them! Can't win em all. Did I mention PayPal sucks!
The BARs I did up for myself are frankly too hokey to market and too awkward to produce. They work for my purposes but aren't something that can be sold cheaply enough to represent any kind of decent value.
They pass the Stevie Wonder test for visual authenticity. I still want the Chinese to come out with and sell at a reasonable price a VFC clone.

i imagine that it must had been alot harder to build them compared to your M1's you sell. and i agree that any china company should make a reasonable BAR, look at how popular the thompson was. They should almost advertise it a replica that was seen in the movies like Saving Private Ryan or Public Enemies

I guess a great uncle of mine actually had a Tucker. My dad had seen it and knew the guy although I never met it. The only one I've ever seen was in the Smithsonian. It actaully looked like a pretty cool car.
