That's exciting and very encouraging. I plan to attend so it should give me a good chance to see what's real and what's not and of course all that is new. Traditionally the Shot Show had very little devoted to airsoft but each year it seems to grow and grow.

ICS is going to be getting a lot of my money, first the grease and now the garand!
Considering how ICS executed the greaser, the garand may be a reliable, well designed, and realistic weapon.

Traditionally ICS performance and reliability has been a bit spotty but hopefully those days are behind them. I will be at Shot show and will do what I can to get as much information on the ICS Garand as possible. I will literally be going to the event with this specific offering in mind although hopefully there will be much much more to see.. The airsoft segment at the shot show has grown considerably in the last 3 years.

2nd Bat, you should show the guy at the ICS booth some of your work. Who knows, you could get a job with ICS.

I'm left handed and I think the m1 garand is still pretty easy to fire, and plus the ICS is an aeg so I don't think you'll have to use the bolt at all, thus it will be ambidextrous. Anyways I can't wait!

If I am allowed to I plan to do just that. I don't think anyone is more excited about this release than I am! I will ask about mag capacity, spare clip availability and projected costs, FPS (if known) and whether or not real wood versions will be offered. I will look into disassembly process and hopefully get answers to all the questions we all want to know. I shared specifications photos and details about my conversions with all the Chinese manufacturers I could over the years in hopes someone would take on the project and am delighted that ICS is carrying the torch. This rifle if well done and if both skirmishable and affordable will be a huge addition to our hobby.

@ 2ndBat, you are most excited? Challenge Accepted. Anyhows I am really looking forward to it and greatly appriciate your efforts! According to a reply ICS gave me a few months ago, there will be a full wood and metal version plus an all plastic version as a "sportline." Another reply said the magazine cap would be 11 rounds. I am not sure of it is 11 6mm or 8mm, most likely 6 I hope.

I hope the mags are compatible with the M14.

I'd be surprised if it did turn out to be 8mm. I cant imagine cramming those gigantic BB's into the, most likely, limited space in the garand's magazine. And a sudden switch to 8mm would seem unwise.
just my two cents however.

I am quite confident it will be 6mm and as for mag capacity anywhere between 12 and 24 rounds in my opinion would be ideal. It would be especially cool if the clips somewhat resembled enblock clips although that is probably asking for too much. obviously with such low capacity, reasonably inexpensive clips would be important as obviously one would need a bunch of them. Usually the shot show is so crowded that it is tough to linger at any one booth and the folks manning the booths are usually too swamped with folks to be very patient with a guy like me who is going to have a million questions. maybe everyone will be looking at the M4s and modern do dads and I will be able to linger to my hearts content.

My big questions are for she "sportline" if they actually release one like that, if the internals will be the same as their higher end one. Also as silly as this sounds I hope you can rack the bolt. Anyhows here is a pic they I believe is the prototype ICS M1 Garand, it was on the Michigan WWII airsoft website. Attachments:

So the plan is to specifically check out the Garand and Greaser from ICS. I also will visit the Ares display and pick their brain about what might be down the pike and visit with them about the PPSH and their Greaser (which I already have) In addition I plan to see GnG and get info on their Kar98.
What other displays and manufacturers do you suggest I root around at? Viva and the obscure companies probably won't be there. What questions do you want answered? These things tend to be more rumor than fact so believe me I will take most of what I hear with a grain of salt.
Mostly I just want to see and feel with my own eyes what's available and what is coming reasonably soon.

Ask Ares about their M1 Garand, there was a thread somewhere on here that had pictures of it but I can't find it. I can't wait for the ICS M1 but they're too late for me I don't think I'm going to get another M1. And I definitly need the M14 mags, I tried to battle with the 12 round clips but I waste loads of ammo already

It is very hard to be effective skirmishing in a conventional airsoft game with 12 round clips or with a bolt action rifle. For a WW2 event where players are limited to mag loads and semi auto fire they work fine with practice. One of the key things I like about WW2 airsoft is the increased ability to manuever that comes about when everyone doesn't use a spray and pray approach to the typical airsoft skirmish. (Team work and fire and manuever are fun) I doubt this Garand AEG from ICS will accept the M14 magazines hence it will be pretty much strictly for plinking and WW2 events. It's possible I suppose that they will have a high capacity magazine in it. (In fact I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case) My preference for authenticity would be small capacity but I'm sure from a marketing perspective they have concerns about the guns sale ability with a small capacity. I want this gun to sell well so other manufacturers will be encouraged to enter this market with additional offerings. I certainly intend to visit the Ares display and learn what I can about their future offerings and especially the Garand which rumor suggests will be a Marushin clone as will their carbine Gas works fine in the bolt actions or cock each time rifles but falls short in semi or full auto. I am also going to check out WE as their M14 gas is supposedly pretty good. (The one I got wasn't so impressive) Perhaps they have plans for a Garand? and it might actually work okay. With plenty of Thompsons, a Stg44, a couple Greasers, a couple PPSHs, a couple Mosin Nagants, several Kar98s and now the M1 Garand AEG all we really need now is a carbine and BAR AEG! Obviously a Springfield, a G43 would be nice to haves as well. I think the dam has finally burst! I am beyond excited!

WE does have a prototype Garand. A distinctly M1 front end was seen in one of their factory photos. I've also been told by the head of WE that they are looking into it, but its rather far off.
WE's M14 has been pretty good to me. I just installed a 6.01mm barrel for even more accuracy. The only problem is, its still not a M1. I can't wait to see pictures of what ICS made.

@2nd Bat: I find that the 12(8)rnd mag can be skirmishable in an outdoor setting with a large engagement distance.

As with a real rifle you have be mindful that when you are reloading you are under cover and that you not come up in the same place you ducked down. You also have to train and practice till you can reload without focusing too hard on the process that your situational awerness goes kaput! Tiny is your M14 from WE such that you would be comfortable skirmishing with it? If so I would not have issues with a WE Gas Garand in fact if they were reliable and functional gas has lots of great advantages. Certainly the blow back function is cool and the report from gas guns is much cooler.
