My dream would the M1 Garand to be an electric blowback with a 20 round mag that shoots around 450fps with .20 bbs. And that the weapon has an abs plastic economy model and a wood collectors edition. Lastly, i would hope the gun got so popular that it began to sell in local sporting good stores and became as popular as the cyma thompson, hopefully recruiting more people in the WW2 airsoft world.

Nothing wrong with that dream in my opinion. In fact I think we are having the same dream. Unfortunately that is probably what it is. 44 inch long rifle holding 20 rounds. You're not going to sell a ton of them. The high FPS makes sense for a long rifle like this and since it's semi auto only it should meet most fields requirements? I do however think they will sell enough of them to make it well worth their while. (Depending on set up costs) Still keeping the fingers crossed.
It has literally been 11 years now since I started deluging assorted manufacturers with requests to do an AEG version of this rifle and over eight years since I first made my own conversion from a Airsoft Club Custom M14. At this point desire combines with hope and is hard to contain. I certainly hope its terrific and I absolutely pray it will be successful.

Spartan Imports has the biggest Airsoft displays and I will be visiting them. An electric Blow back carbine would be awesome but...I truly have my doubts.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qn55Tj_8uAHere is the video showing the gun. Looks very nice! I think he said that it will be 8mm which is kind of odd. It was kind of hard to hear over the noise.

F***- 8mm? That cuts our range down dramatically. 8mm just has too much surface area to fly properly at airsoft velocities. I really don't want to have to buy a separate supply of ammo to feed just ONE rifle in my armory.

If it does come out in 8mm, I will say screw the ICS offering and go ahead and buy a real M1. This is beyond insane.

I was the first guy to post on ICS's page about this thing...rather, useless POS They seem to want to compete with the Marushin M1 in 8mm.
Thank goodness I built a M1903 so I don't have to wait for this thing to have a WWII rifle...

All they had to do was make a cheap M14 clone with an M1 Garand design. HOW DO THEY MESS THAT UP?

In my frustration, since my last post I have gone to work on my M14 to M1 Garand conversion and in one hour....it is almost done....I must have been mad....(I have a lot of live steel Garand parts so I had no wood or metal pieces to order/make so that why it is going so fast lol)

No need to say more. To suggest I am disappointed is beyond an understatement. I am pissed. I wasted airfare and travel expenses to see this rifle. Everything else at the shotshow was a distant second to seeing this rifle which is the real reason I went. Given that the timeframe from their announcement to the release of the Grease gun was fairly short (in airsoft terms) and they did such a nice job on it. I was really expecting the same with the Garand. Instead I see a rifle in an enclosed glass case that you can't really look at up close and hear them discribe it as a "pre-prototype" Between us girls I seriously suspect that the rifle shown was a Marushin Garand gas gun not their prototype at all. It looked great! None of this matters of course. What does matter is that they said they "Hoped" to have the Garand ready in about a year! What? ? Seriously? ? The real kicker has already been touched upon. They are making it in 8mm, They are excited that theirs will be the first production electric in 8mm. So obvious from that how clueless they are about what's needed and hoped for. The projected FPS is 250. Granted 250 with 8mm 34 or 43 gram has a pretty potent pop and the person getting hit would certain not have any doubt they got hit but the range will be awkward and the visual effects will be disappointing. Black or green BBs would be your only hope. The rifle is to be offered in real wood or...plastic in a textured black finish. Uhhhhhh....What? Really? Stevie Wonder on Mescalene couldn't have missed the mark that bad. 8mm and a black stock? Ieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieiei!!!!!!!!! Wow....I am just crushed. As for the rest of the SHOW it is 99% sporting goods stuff and real steel gear with oodles of tactical gear and gun related stuff. Very very little on airsoft and other than the ICS crushing news nothing whatsoever to report. The carbine at the Spartan Imports display was indeed a Marushin gas blow back. GnG and Ares weren't represented at all. The trip was a total waste of time and energy. Maybe between now and NEXT YEAR!!!!!!! ICS can make some tweaks to make this offering more palatable Anything would be an improvement. 6mm would be huge obviously but other issues are they haven't figured out the loading system and instead of clips are thinking about pouring the BBs down the gas tube and inserting a spring like some springer shotguns! I am just.....devastated. The tragedy is when this flops horribly like the cartridge loading Kar 98 from D Boys they'll say there isn't a market and it will be one more reason manufacturers fail to support our WW2 needs. Unbelieveable! This totally blows!

Well this is a big let down. But on the brighter side, KWA is looking into WWII and is releasing a Tokarev and an M1911a1.

The Tokarov actually looks pretty nice and as a KWA will no doubt function well unlike the previous Tokarov offering which was quite inconsistent.

Sadly, most of the airsoft universe wants more M4's,AK's and anything that can spray 500 BB's a second! I'm afraid WW2 is WAY on the backburner...

I had set aside a bit of cash to buy one of these, but it looks like
a) It won't be worth buying other than as a wallhanger b) I have another year to wait
Why can't ICS just go with a standard M14 gearbox mounted to a new M1 receiver? Holy crap, its not THAT complicated!

Well I WILL remain hopeful, although it is 8mm, I will see what the sportline cost. I can get a wood Garand stock and guard set later. A plastic receiver does not bother me, I have too many hobbies to support so this is a great alternative to a full metal and real wood version.
