They were pretty impressive.A country like the U.S.S.R would of easily steamrolled their way into Finland.Plus Finland had Simo Häyhä

I don't know if anyone has done it, but I imagine with an airsoft PPSH and a Suomi parts kit (plus a little ingenuity), you could probably make a pretty good M31.

It would be way beyond my capabilities on building something like that ;)It would be a cool project. It would be cool to show up at an airsoft event in WW2 Finn impression.Players would be trying to think of what nation you're portraying,"Is he German, nahhh, wait, ummm,Soviet?".Its a pretty obscure combatant.

Hungarian is another impression I plan on doing. And Polish. It seems that those two are even less portrayed than Finland is. I like unique kits a lot

How about Japanese? They were a major contributor to the axis powers, but I don't see many impressions.

Japanese was never my flavor.Their uniforms and gear never interested me but that my own opinion :DFor some reason I like uniforms and gear of lesser known European nations armies during the World Wars like Switzerland,Sweden,Finland,Dutch, ect.I wouldn't mind doing a WW2 era Swiss impression as well but they never fought in WWI/WW2,they had nice uniforms.Their helmets were pretty interesting

I picked up one of their helmets when a bunch of them were sold as surplus a few years ago. It's one serious helmet. Like personal bunker for your head. I also have a Swiss K31, the rifle (technically carbine) they're holding. It's a straight pull action with a six round magazine, very accurate and probably a bit faster to operate than a Kar98. When the war started the Swiss mobilized about 600,000 men to enforce their neutrality. The central part of the country (where the serious mountains are)is heavily fortified. If the Germans had invaded, and they made a number of plans to do it, the Swiss would have blown all the bridges and tunnels and withdrawn into their defenses. The Germans would have had to starve them out and it would have tied up probably a couple million troops to do it. On the other hand, the Swiss had to trade with the Germans because they weren't self-sufficient in either food or fuel, especially fuel. Switzerland was a major supplier of trucks to the German. They also were a major supplier of chronometers and precision tools to the allies, which they smuggled out through Vichy France and Spain with some creative customs documentation. Before the war the Swiss bought some ME109's for their air force. The Germans wanted them back when the war started. The Swiss refused, and also shot down a number of German planes that strayed into their air space. A lot of crippled Allied aircraft landed in Switzerland and were interned. It's an interesting story.
Oddly enough, the other big user of the Swiss M1918 helmet was Argentina. Their standard helmet was the German (m35 I think), but before the war they couldn't get enough so they bought a bunch of Swiss helmets.

The standard rifle (you probably know this already) of the Finns was a Finnish version of the Mosin Nagant, plus a lot of Mosins that were captured from the Russians. They also used as many SVT-40's as they could capture, as well as PPSh41's. So your impression is kind of open as to weapons.

Interesting stuff volkssturm!I read up all about the invasion of the Swiss' airspace and Swiss Me-109's vs German Me-109's which ticked Hitler off :DYup,that Swiss helmet is an odd looking thing, but I want one :)I think the helmet cover for those helmets was one of the first covers to be manufactured for helmets. As for Finn impression I might get me the summer tunic, great coat, field cap,and all the other basics.Shouldn't be too expensive as I'm mostly going to buy the stuff from Hiki Shop.
