Hi All,
I recently just purchased a Matrix 1918 BAR from Evike.com and I was initially very impressed with this gun. After the first night of me playing around with it for thirty minutes (maybe put 2 mags through it) I noticed that it started having trouble firing bb's. At first I thought it was a battery problem but after giving it a full charge the problem persisted. When I hold the gun upright in a standard shooting position I rarely get even one bb to fire out the barrel. I checked the motor and it works fine and then I checked to see if any part of the barrel was obstructed by feeding bb's one at a time while the gun was upside down. After see that it fired them fine I concluded that there has to be a problem where the magazine fits into the gun. Now I tried playing around with the magazine, trying to make it a tighter fit but nothing worked. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? Where you cannot seem to get any bb's to feed out of the mag? Should I return this gun for another? Or is there an easy solution to this issue. Thanks for your help on this.

Use a pair of pliers to carefully bend out the location at the rear of the mag where the mag catch latches. If you continually push up on the mag while firing and it does indeed fire, this adjustment should fix your problem

That sounds like the typical issue with high-cap mags. They're notorious for causing feeding problems because of the way they work. I experienced quite a bit of feeding trouble with the high-craps in my BAR when I had just gotten it. I converted all of the magazines to midcaps and haven't experienced a single feeding issue since then.

I too followed the tutorial posted elsewhere and converted all my mags to midcaps and have been pleased with the results.

No matter what others might tell you in the airsoft community, Hi Caps suck and they don't work. I have yet to have handled any that actually did work. It might just be my luck, or lack there of, with them and they might have work for some others, but I've bought plenty of new guns with their included high caps, and never had one that worked.
Its best to do a mid cap conversion on it and not have to ever worry about it again.

Thanks for the replies you guys. I spoke with my brother (since it is his gun) and I think he got a lemon because along with the feeding issue it was severely scratched and the charging handle/dust cover is defective, so he's sending it back and we'll see if he gets a new one. I'll definitely relay your advice to him since it sounds like we're going to want to do this for the new one too. Can anyone attach a link to that tutorial? Thanks a lot!!

ww2aa.proboards.com/thread/10180for the mid-cap conversion. There are different ways to do it discussed in the thread so just look through all the comments to figure out how you want to do it

I bought one from Evike, would not feed at all. Had my local shop look at it. Had over a 1/4 of slop in the mag catch. He is fabbing up a new catch to hold it better. Hoping this will fix it for good.

One way I check mags is to load them and push the release tab to see how much pressure the internal spring still has. To be effective there needs to be enough pressure to literally shoot the BBs out of the magazine (point them into your pouch to avoid a big mess). If their isn't much force the spring in your magazine has to be replaced. If the mag is good, I listen for the " swoosh" that should be audible when the magazine is locked into place in the gun. If that isn't happening then clearly the magazine isn't seating properly. This sometimes happens when a left over BB is in the way in the mag well or when the alignment tabs are slightly off. With high caps, though properly wound up, if the tab at the feed point isn't released your BBs aren't going to feed. The BAR from Matrix comes with two magazines as I recall. Be sure to try both before you decide its a problem with the gun.
Good luck with your replacement.

I bought the Matrix Bar about a year and a half ago. I have 5 magazines for the gun, and 3 work perfectly and the other 2 work sometimes. I think it is more of a problem with hi-caps in general. I would recommend greasing the insides with silicon and wind up the mags, then eject the bbs. I did that a few times and now there a lot better.
