Where did you get your optics for the tripod? Is is Postwar, War time, Norwegin? The reenacting group I'm in we have two tripods but I think one is PW and they both don't have the optics.

Hey Jager- I wanted to thank you for assisting us in keeping the high standards of the 'Stitch Knot-See' thread alive! It caused me to go back through the images so that I could offer our newest member some pointers- Which brings me to a question..... Did they have black plastic electrical cords and yellow plastic stackable school chairs in the 40's? I think that you can quickly see that this sword cuts both ways- ...I think a word to the wise is sufficient here on out isn't it?

-G, you are correct sir! Indeed. I shouldn't bite off more than I can chew.
I edited mine as well. Took out the picture with the chairs.

Still looks dang cool. Let me guess since its his tripod, you had to hump it out? I think one of ours is E.German and the other a Yugo.

yeah and if I remember the posts in the 'outside the US' events section, it was like a mile or two walk from camp? That's commitment for a game I'll tell you that! ...course we play at 8900 ft above sea level, on the side of a mountain, so.... Excellent pictures everybody!

I loved to carry that tripod in ETO, as you can see me smiling on the first photo. Too bad that the MG didn't hit in any of the photos ;>

Gadge, Cool panzer impression. I was thinking of doing late war PnzGren with a grey stug wrap. Where did you get your panzer uniform, It looks like it fits you pretty well.

It fits cos i had it re-tailored I tend to do it with most my uniforms, especially officers ones. Originally it is an incredibly cheap barry lyndon/spearhead outfit. I've taken in the central rear seam a lot, let the sleeves down a cm or so and stuff like that. Same with the cap, originally it didnt have a soutache but i took an old shoulder board apart to get the backing cloth and piping to put it on. cheers for the kind comment though.

Ah, I see. I need to get my fliegerbluse taliored. I'm a 36 chest and the smallest size they come in is 38. The China stuff the smallest size is a 40. In reality the Germans did talior their stuff to make it fit better.

And in reality, I bet 38 would be an average size - not a small

All units had a 'unit tailor' (well until very late war) and most uniforms were have alterations done by then and tricky insignia put on too at times.
Its only late war when they didnt have the manpower or time for such niceities when you see lads starting to look very untidy even in new uniforms.
(You'd have a unit cobbler as well to sort out knacked boots...)

The uniforms were a majority wood pulp by then too...so the sloppiness couldnt be purely tailoring I imagine!

Not to mention 'presstoff' cardboard belts and non load bearing leather items and wood soled boots.
They were indeed in rag order by 45....

Jager.Drü, your pic excellently conveys the endless fun of carrying an MG/42 on the march. "There are all these different ways to position the gun and all of them feel so good, I don't know which one I should use!"
