I picked up a pair of Post WW2 German field phones, dated 1961, almost identical to the WW2 versions. They were pulled out of bunkers in West Germany and are in perfect condition. The Dynamos work just fine when you crank them as do the transceivers. They are supposed to be able to function up to one mile, but I don't have enough wire to try that. They should be fun to use in a game! Hook up a bunker to a command post!
You could do your Major Werner Pluskat impression and say "You know those five thousand ships you say the Allies haven't got? Well, they've got them!"

If they are like mine and run on 2 D batteries they will work up to at least 2k feet, tested....the wire cost me more than my phones.

Yea...I figured the wire would probably be the expensive part of the equation!!
A local shop has an original German WW2 back pack telephone wire real with several hundred feet of wire on the spool. They are asking $275, which from what I've seen is about the right price! I'll probably just get some bulk wire though........

OK, I've picked up two real steel K98K's and a Mosin-Nagant in the last month. Both Mausers were Russian captures but in excellent shape. One is a 1941 Obendorf and the other is a 1944 Obendorf. Under all that nasty commie applied red varnish was some really nice looking laminated stocks. A few parts were replaced on each to get them looking correct for their production timeframes and I'll be scoping the 41 model with a new made replica ZF41.

Hurray! My Kubelwagen replica car from Kooblewerks finally arrived today. My brother and I commissioned this build in March 07 and have been patiently waiting for it till today. Dennis at Kooblekar is finally catching up on some projects it seems. He has been great to work with and communicates well and what can I say... without folks like him other people's dreams could not materialize. The first picture shows me happy at the wheel although my brother couldn't share the moment as he was traveling but he'll get a chance to use it. After all someone has to GI it after I mud it all up. The second shows a very recent shot when it was in New Mexico before the ship date. Don't hate me because I have a Kubel. Hate me because I have named it Heer-Bee.

My replica ZF41 and mount just arrived today, and I have it installed and ready for use at a tactical event this weekend. ;D I won't be able to get it bore sighted with live ammo for a few weeks, but it will be just fine for blank-fire events until I do.

Danke!. I really wanted to do a complete SS sniper conversion with the high turret mounts and ZF39 scope, but spending $1600 or more on period optics to scope a $300 mauser was just silly. Especially for blank-fire use. The ZF41 wasn't exactly cheap, but it is very well made and quite impressive for a scope it's size.

It's to bad most of you guys know what i look like , because i was actually thinking about basing my Long Winter impression on a member of Einheit Steilau Kommando party under the command of SS-Hauptsturm-fuhrer Steilau , and confuse the hell out of the Amis ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. Who knows , i might still do that

At the original Long Winter all patrols coming back from issions had to pass a US MP check point. A group of US soldiers coming back from patrol approached the Jeep I was at and my fellow GIs (including my son) noticed that one of them had German trousers on They were in fact German infiltrators in mostly GI unforms and they almost got away with it. Very few of the players at that event knew one another. It was a very cool encounter. The event started with all the US forces breaking into small elements and attempting to break out of their encampment which had been bypassed and infiltrate back to friendly lines. After that it was a series of defensive and offensive attacks. The weather was frosty cold and it was the beginning of a series of annual WW2 events that I have been going to ever since. Great fun. They just keep getting better and better.

Especially since we are getting written into the scenarios. I mean come on! Gotta make this one. My newest acquisition is another vehicle. I have a sickness and the cure is vehicle projects. ;D Check out item number 200277646263 in Ebay motors to see what I picked up. I plan to keep this restoration/transformation local and in my backyard so to speak and in this way hope to complete it in the coming year. I lined up my help ahead of time and have high hopes. This is intended to get us to our airsoft events in style. It will look like this when complete but with rounded not flat fenders. At least that is the plan, man. Ha-ha.
